    Bluegrass Brawl + Quetico Recap

Anyone going to the BASS Elite Series Bluegrass Brawl in mid-June?

Just got back from Quetico. It's nice to fish some unpressured fish once a year. Every year seems to top the last one. I think we stuck more 3-4 lb smallies this year than ever. 6 days avg 100 fish a day between two guys avg size 2.8 lbs. Numbers were down, but it was early and water temps were in the high 30's on main lake - upper 40's in the backs of the bays. Saw a few fish bedding in 48˚ water!!!!! When you got to go....you got to go.
    Have a great summer everyone!

If I can get off work I may try to visit the lakes that weekend. Never been to an elite series tournament and it usually looks like theres a lot going on.

Numbers were down with 100+ days that is hauling them in. Congrats on a great trip.

Big Ol Funky Q (Quetico not WQMF for you Louisville area guys)
We go all artificial and before the spawn if we can. Those fish are too easy to catch on the bed.

    Elite Series BB
I was thinking it would be cool to talk with some of the pros and see some of the booths...in addition to seeing where they went and what they were doing...cuz you know ESPN isn't going to show it. Should be good for the kids too....who wouldn't like a bunch of sweet wrapped trucks and boats.

Meeting these guys when they come was kindled when I recently watch a documentary on Tachahiro Omori? called BASS MAN. It was really wierd in that they featured so much of Rick Clunn and his ideas on the spirit world. Still it was nice to see a success story like that though...I'd recommend it.

What lakes did you fish? I went up there a couple of time in the lates 80s. We canoed in about 15 hours to Lake Russell. It was smallmouth topwater heaven. It was a lot of work though portaging, and roughing it in the wilderness. I was always a little worried about having an accident in there with no communication, and taking a day trying to get out if something happened.

We go up through Ely,MN to outfit and then Prairie Portage to check in with the Canadians...then we don't do anymore portaging or paddling then we have to...it's rough enough. Oh, but we jack them good. It's like bass fishing 101. Once you get a little info you can pretty much apply it everywhere on the lakes of similar size and they'll be there.

As far as the Elite goes, I can't wait. I am hoping to get to shoot the breeze with some of them at the tackle store I work at from time to time. I will see if I can sell KVD some pink lizzards. Just kidding - I am sure with the limmited time they have spent on this lake, they already have a better understanding of it than me. I really just want to talk with Ike for a bit - I hope he wins (sorry, I know everyone on here doesn't want to hear that).
