GOOD place to stay in Jamestown area

    Hey,

I'm headed to Cumberland River today......and need a decent place to stay tonight and tomorrow........

Any recommendations. I don't want to spend a TON of money, but also don't want a craphole, if you know what I mean.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

There is a pretty nice place in Russell Springs right by the parkway. Seems like it might be a Best Western. I'm not sure on that. Anyway, it is right by the parkway and just a few miles from Jamestown.

Timberpointe on the way to Jamestown marina, nice folks and fairly reasonable. Spring Motel in Russell Springs, cheap and not to bad but not the Tashmahall either, nice folks and the shower heads will exfoliate you as you could probably clean your deck at home with it because of the pressure, lol. Feels good after a sweaty day on the water. The Jamestown hotel-Lodge is only 55 or 60 dollars I think and are very nice. There are more but these are decent choices.

What area of the river are you going too? Riverfront motel in Burkesville is right on the river near the ramp.

    OOPS, I should have said........

I'm taking my canoe..........BIG READ..........UGLY Old town., and will be putting in at the dam.

Refer to Redneck thread above as to HOW I will be fishing......

I hope to drown some CORN

Actually crankbaits, spinnerbaits, maybe some night crawlers.....but I'm not "elite" enough to flyfish.

BUT I do own some pretty **** nice equipment...... .

I second Timberpointe. Stayed there a bunch of times. They also have some rooms with kitchen in case you want to cook up some of those trout or left over corn.

    Lake Cumberland Motel
    Jct. Hwy. 127 & 55
    Jamestown, KY 42629
    (270)343-2643

Been there several times, immaculate rooms, 2 room efficiency with kitchen, very friendly operatos and reasonable rates on the low side. And you are half way down 127 to be at the ramp by the dam easy and quick for a morning launch, and still and easy drive back into Jamestown. And, you are just a couple miles up from Lake Cumberland Country Store on 127 for breakfast, and bait, and coffee, and fishing supplies or the way to the ramp, or on the way home to the motel. I come in thru Columbia, then instead of doing the parkwat to RussellSprings, I just go south on HWY 55, till it hits 127.

Thumbs up Re: GOOD place to stay in Jamestown area

We go striper fishing in the winter on the Cumberland Lake out of Jamestown. Only place I would consider is Timberpointe.

    Thanks all.........

I wish I would have stayed somewhere else..........The place I stayed was adequate, but a little overprices.........BUT they had decent homestyle service, were close to the ramp, and the rooms were about average.

So, is $68.00 too much for the area, or about right......

    Thanks,

    Geo

Oh........BTW..........caught LOTS of small bows.......a few slots, and a couple over......

Also........LOTS of people, and now, I understand some of the posts about wade fisherman completely across the water. Most were friendly, but some were not "QUITE" happy to be disturbed......and the ones who casted so close to me, EVEN though I gave LOTS of room, give the situation.......well they were total a's.
