It's right at the 15th of October. I know Nolin starts the 16th so I'm sure Barren is the same.

Actually Barren starts the mini drawdown on Sept. 15. They draw 2" a day until Oct. 15 which becomes up to 8" a day.

The lake should be at summer pool 552 on September 15. They have a slow draw down of 2 ft from September 15 until October 15. The lake should be at 550 on October 15. The first stage of the draw down is hardly noticable. Then on October 15 they open the gates up more and let water out until it reaches 525. After October 15 you will notice a daily change in the water level.

I still fish the same, the fish will move out slightly as the water drops....But if they're sitting out on a ledge, I don't think the drop should effect them much.

Spent the weekend on Barren breaking in the new 250 Pro XS. I'll be ready for October. Fishing should be good from what I saw over the weekend.

    Unhappy Re: Barren drawdown?

They start drawing it down about the week before wood duck and teal season. Water falls out of all the shallow bays that have the weeds and food that the ducks use and causes them to move out of the lake area.
