I fish both alot, but haven't been able to this spring and summer. I am just now getting my motor fixed and hope to get out maybe sometime next week. What do you fish for? I live in Alexandria area.
Bassky
haven't really fished there much, but would like to fish for sauger and stripers, not opposed to catching some big catfish either.
My home waters...I mainly target cats. Drifting with fresh cut or live bait is the ticket in low water (26-28 feet). Once we get to 29 feet I have better luck anchoring. A lot of small to medium size blues are what I usually catch drifting, I have better luck with the flatheads anchoring regardless of water levels. Everything is biting right now - good luck.
As far as striper fishing I prefer Markland over Meldahl; more boater friendly and you don't need surf rods to fish from the bank. It's difficult to consistently target stripes anywhere other than the dams.
sent you a PM ... thanks
fished below Markland yesterday. no luck at all. my first time there so maybe i wasnt doing something right. saw a couple of guys catch a couple of hybrids right up close to the gates on topwater. didnt see anyone else catching anything.
You weren't doing anything wrong. There were 9 of us that fished an all nighter bass tournament. Only 7 fish weighed in. Winner had 4 that went 5.3.
