I'm looking to buy trailer tires. I'm looking at Goodyear Marathons. Any opinions on these tires? I'm wide open for suggestions on any brand of good boat trailer tire. I need 215/75R14
Goodyear Marathons all the way!
I have priced the tires within a 30 mile radius. The highest price i got was 143.00 each mounted and balanced.
The cheapest price I received was 104.00 each mounted and balanced.
I had some bad luck with goodyears. Had one blow out and the tread come off the other in less than a year. I went with Carlisle brand tires, so far so good...KP
I read several reviews on the Goodyear Marathons. after 20 reviews, They ended up with a 2 out of 5 star rating.
I also just saw a video on tires. There is a date at the end of the DOT numbers on the tire. The date is week and year the tire was made. The investigation they were doing on the tires stated that after 6 years the inside of the tire will dry rot, but major tire companies still sell them as new. They found tires 12 years old being sold at major tire dealers. These are the new tires that are blowing out I presume. I will check the date on the tire from now on before I buy.
here a link to the vidoe I watched on dated tires.

Had a simular problem with the goodyears, although after 3years. Had the first blow out, put on the spare that was in good shape and made sure psi was correct. The next week the belt seperated on it.
Looked high and low for good prices and found Taskmaster tires (205 75 14)for $60 total shipped per tire. Half the cost of the goodyear. Only put about 200 or so miles on them so far, so can't speak on how well they will hold up. The website is www.taskmasterproducts.com. Had them installed at Wal-mart for $10.
Hope this helps.

Have whatever tire you buy inflated with Nitrogen. They'll be more likely to stay at the proper PSI longer.
I found some great tires down below the Cumberland Lake Dam a couple weeks ago. They were next to some sweet fishing rods/reels that I picked up. Posession is 9/10ths...lol....j/k. Oh but it's not stealing...lol.
I put a set of Carlisle sport trails on mine this year. They are 6ply nonradials and seems like the trailer rolls freer. They were around $70.00 each mounted and balanced.
