    flat bottom or V bottom?

No slamming on manufacturers, but I would like to hear from people who have fished out of both. I have fished from a flat bottom for over 25 years, but recently looked at a nice V bottom for sale. I never fished from a V. What advantages and disadvantages do you see from a V?

Kind of depends on what kind of fishing you are doing. Lake or river. Small water or big. Personally, I like mod-v boats. They are a great compromise between flat and v bottoms. I have a 15 mod-v Alumacraft that is perfect for shallow waters like the Cumberland River below the dam. I also have 17 foot Bass Tracker that is a mod v too that fishes pretty good on bigger water, just because it is longer and wider. There are so many variables its hard to say that one is better than the other though. Flat and mod-v boats are going to run a shallower but not going to be as stable.

I used to have a V bottom, but then traded it for a flat bottom. And now MY BOTTOM is flat, and my back hurts more. I'd really lean toward a V and safe the back, especially since recent V technology has netted far better stability.

I have owned both for several years and prefer the V-bottom overall. V-bottom will handle rough water better and are generally taller, making them safer IMO. As was said by someone else, it will depend on what type of water you fish most often.

V-bottoms ride better in rough water and generally are a safer boat.

V-hull if you're not in skinny water. They hold better in windy conditions and ride better than a flat bottom in big water.
