Scorpions in Kentucky???!!!!!

I never knew there were scorpions in Kentucky. I was staying at a cabin on Lake Cumberland this weekend, and woke up to one next to me in my bed (I was on an air mattress). Screamed like a little girl. It wasn't big, but it was definitely a scorpion. Took a couple pictures, before letting it be on it's way (Yeah Right!!!). After talking to some people in the area and doing a little internet research - I found they are becoming more and more common, and being found in a large part of the state. The Southern Devil Scorpion. They sure are ugly critters.

It's as dry as a desert in my backyard right now...was working in the yard today, it was hotter than fire, and saw a mirage of a watering hole with a Mountain Dew machine in the middle of it...might as well be scorpions here too.

I don't like spiders and snakes...and the only scorpion that I care for is the one made by Shimano in Japan. (nice little reel)

They are quite common here in cumberland county. The sting is pain full, but in most cases as seroius as a wasp sting.

Col we've been seeing them little dudes for years on the big C. If they sting you it's about the same as a wasp sting, no big deal.

Saw them once in Tenn at Municiple autotoruim they opened for Ted Nugent, on july 3rd 1980, my first concert. I think they played at Lville also some time ago. They were good.LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL. It has been reported that these bugs are also in Adiar co and Monroe , Cumberland co's.

When I was a kid in Alabama we had scorpions all in our basement. I use to catch them and keep them in those mesh tube cricket containers. As many times as I picked em up and let them crawl on me, Im surprised I was never stung!

I guess they are following the armadillo north!

I saw one in my cabin at Hendricks creek a couple of years ago. I didnt know they were in Kentucky, but after some research it seems that they are.
