    Re: More republican wisdom?

I play the bass as well. I played in bands all through college, and I really miss it now. I guess playing out several nights a week had something to do with me spending almost 8 years as an under grad. Play the guitar as well, but I always play bass in bands. We used to do a killer version of YYZ - gave me hand cramps, but always came out pretty good. I have only seen them once, and would like to again. I don't know what location your in, but one of the high definition music channels has been playing a fairly recent concert, and it is awesome. Getty is awesome, but everytime I watch it, I want to be a drummer.

Neal Pert is the greatest drummer to ever live, not even John Bonham was as good.

Well, seems that is at least one thing a bunch of us can agree on: Rush is a killer band. Saw them for the first time on the Moving Pictures tour. 5 feet from the stage on Geddy's side. Have seen them a number of times since then including earlier this year at Riverbend. They still kick butt.

Oh, and Col, I play bass too and did the band thing for a bunch of years. Nothing as mellow as Rush, but it were some fun gigging

Nothing as mellow as Rush??????? Wow! I guess we played more of the hippy stuff than anything, although we through some slayer into some of our jams.

Saw them at Rupp one year and stood in amazement at how three guys can do that much. The entire back of the stage probably 30 to 40 feet no kiddin was set up for Pert's drums and he was hitting all of'em .. ALOT, lol.

Neil is amazing, he is a show in himself, man we sould put a Fishin.com band together, with all the bass players we could do a Spinal Tap tribute and do BIG BOTTOMS. Man I miss my playing days it was a fun time but as I see it music and fishing are both arts and keep my sanity.what little is left.

I also keep spelling his name wrong it's Peart, sorry. I know Geddy primarily plays bass however I saw a clip of them once playing a song that eludes me at the moment. However Geddy was playing a double neck guitar that was bass on the bottom and rythem on the top neck. Now I'm not a musician but I'm just thinking if you can play bass with one hand, rythem with another hand and sing all at the same time, you are probably exceptional at what you do, just a thought, lol.

He also does some keyboard looping, and will assign foot pedals to that. Sometimes he will keep a bass lick going with his left hand and play the keyboard with his right. He also has a pedal set that looks like organ foot pedals?? I never can tell what kind of noise that is making.

As far as three peice bands go, they are among the top - I have to throw the police up there. Primus is up there for three peices, but they aren't rush calliber.

Mark that song could be " Closer to the Heart" and on some earlier songs he played the double neck on older stuff. The pedals he plays are bass pedals he plays preprogramed bass tracks while playing the keyboard they also control several synths, they are all amazing musicians, also Primus Les Claypool is also a great bass player and I agree the Police were awesome too, it takes a lot of work and colabration to make a 3 peice band sound full, Rush has a new CD out, almost said album, I am glad there are others out there that remember ALBUMS, like " All the Worlds a Stage", Zep 4, Tull's Auqualung, I miss the big Albums. Music binds us all it seems.

You guys watch Snopes, I read where this site is owned by a couple, they are Liberals, which does not really matter, but it has been proven quite a few times that the stuff they say is or isnt true has been proven otherwise. So just because they say it, does not make it true. This was on national site, AOL, MSN, cant remember exactly, but I bet you could google it, and find the story.

We wrote our own stuff, but Slayer would certainly fit well into one of our sets. Mosh pits, slamming, stage diving, glad I was up on stage where it was at least a little safe Well, except for when the stage was a little low. Still remember someone getting tossed out of the pit at one show and flew right through my monitors hitting my mic stand (I was also the vocalist). Mic smacked my mouth and busted my lip. Had blood all over the mic and me for the rest of the set. Sort of fit in though
