A 26 inch smallmouth, good Lord man what a fish. With any girth at all that fish had to be pushing 7lb if not over, wow. I haven't resorted to live bait yet and that's not a put down I just haven't done it. Are you using shiners or are you litterally using minnows?? Slip bobbers or free line??

I was the one that caught that 26'' smallmouth. Caught her in Indian creek right up from the marina on a big (5'') shiner. Measured her, gave her a kiss and she's back swimming somewhere in Indian. Caught 9 smallmouth,4 Ky's and one striper all on shiners on 6lb. floro. Great day to be on the water! All fish were released except for 2 Ky's that found my oven.

Always nice to meet a fellow Fishin.com member. I only fish for bass about 2-3 times a year now. I am hooked on striper fishing and have been for about 8 to 10 years now. I use shiners quite a bit while I'm striper fishing because I live about an hour from the big C and to get shad you need to get there pretty early. I may not do as well with shiners vs shad but I still catch plenty of fish and I get to sleep in a little longer. The only times I bass fish are the July full moon at night, the Fall smallmouth-Ky's live bait bite and Feb.or March nighttime bite.

26" Man that's a fish of a lifetime there. Congrats on the catch and sounds like a great day. Was the water turning over at all down there?
