    Re: Stoner Creek????

actually it's not a lake at all, its a 99 mile long creek (one mile shy of being a river). The only two direct access docks I know of are near here. One in Pairs city limits (Ike's) and one a few miles out of town (Fryman's). I personally haven't been out with the fnf yet, but some others on the board have and from what I read have had moderate to good success lately.

Good Luck and let us know how you do.

The water temp last thursday was 38........I was there for an hour or so but never done any good.......mid 30's and rainin just ain't my ideal conditions.....when the rain started bouncing I decided it was time for me to go sit by the fire....water still seems to be clear despite the rain we have been getting.

Actually Hinkston Creek which is in the same county is the one that is only one mile short of being a river I believe but could be mistaken. I haven't fished that crrek since I was a kid but have fished Stoner quite a bit. I always seemed to have better luck in the Frymans pool

    Re: Stoner Creek????

My apologies to everyone, it appears that I have been misinformed, it appears that stoner is only 55 miles long according to this site http://fw.ky.gov/smallmouthstreams.asp.

I have heard that it was just one mile shy of being a river (100 miles long) since I can remember, I suppose I should have validated this before posting it here.

    Again, my apologies.

In hydro-geologic terms there aren't any parameters in place to officially call something a river over a creek or a stream. , I have heard this 100 miles to officially be a river but its not so. A river is called a river simply by Historical names given.

He's right. A professor in college gave us the assignment of describing the difference between a river and a creek. We all nearly killed ourselves only to find out the only difference is only in the name. In other words, if it's called a creek, it's a creek. If it's called a river, it's a river. Size might matter in many aspects of life, but not when it comes to distinguishing between a river and a creek.....
