Well, how convenient.
"Gunman used AK-47 to fire on crowd, police say"...
There's your headline on CNN, with "Miami concerned about Assault Weapons" below it.
Anybody want to place a wager now on how long before Obama reinstates the assault weapons ban?
Because, if assault weapons were illegal, this shooting that's on the front of CNN would have surely been prevented...(1) the law abiding guy that committed the crime would never have broken the law by carrying an illegal AK-47, and (2) crazy dude couldn't have done it with a Marlin model 60 .22 rifle that he bought at Wal-Mart for 100 bucks. The type of weapon, after all, is what enables the crime to be committed. It has nothing to do with the person attached to the finger on the trigger.
Give me a break. I'm not saying that an AK-47 serves any sporting purpose...and it may not have any place in the hands of certain people...but GUNS don't kill people. PEOPLE kill people. Whether it's a bazooka, a .22 rifle, or a stick whittled to a point on the end - All can be used as an instrument of death if the PERSON holding it wishes it so. The type of gun matters not.
Sorry to rant, but I hate this crap.![]()

Thats why I am stocking up now. Since the election I have bought an Romanian AKM-47 clone w/ Romanian folding stock, three 30 round mags and a 75 round drum mag, Bulgarian AKS-74 clone with 10 30round mags, and a Saiga-12 (baisically a 12ga AK) with one 13 round mag as well as 2,000+ rounds of ammo.
By the way, I use the word clone because a "real" AKM-47 and a "real" AKS-74 will be select fire and not semi-auto.
Imagine the damage a good ole semi auto Remington 7400 (semi auto 30-06) could do with a handful of mags?
What about knives? Didnt the guy over in Europe go on a rampage with a knife in a daycare? Should we ban those too.
Fortunately I dont think the Obama administration and this Congress of retards are dumb enough to pass a major gun bill in his first term as it will ensure him a one term president. The dems still remember how the 94 AWB cost them their majority in Congress.
Dont even get me started on "sporting arms" and the "sporting clause." Yet again, what part of "shall not be infringed" do they not under stand? Last time I read the constitution (apparently I have read it more then our law makers) it doesnt say, "...the right to keep and bear arms for sporting purposes such as hunting and shooting clay pigeons, shall not be infringed." Its says, ..:being necessary to the security of a free state..."
What is your over-under going to do if say something horrible happens to Obama and his people erupt in mass violence and chaos as they do when ever a police office shoots one of their drug dealers or thugs?

I agree with many of your comments there...especially in that the law abiding citizen who is a gun enthusiast and enjoys collecting/shooting different kinds of firearms like those will be on the short end of the stick with a ban on assault weapons. I enjoy shooting...enjoy it a lot...but I'm definitely not the "gun crazed sicko" that the media portrays most folks holding such firearms to be. Whether I'm shooting clay pigeons with a 12 gauge or shooting paper at 100 yards+ with an AR, what's the difference? Gun, Ammo, Target, and a dude who enjoys meshing all 3 together. Simple concept really.
Now, I'm not stocking up on enough guns and ammo to invade a small country because (1) I don't have that kind of cash, (2) it would be stupid of me to think I could buy every gun I ever wanted in the next little bit, and (3) I just don't see the point. I have guns that I like to shoot, carry for self defense, have around the house if they are needed, etc...I've been buying ammo for those guns as I can because personally, I think AMMO is where they're going to get us.
Things like the Ammo Accountabily Act where all muntions have to be coded with unique numbers and registered to the manufacturer/vendor/purchaser just like a firearm...and subsequentially taxed like crazy to offset the cost. That's going to be THE ISSUE if it keeps making headway. I've heard crazy notions in these bills that all handloaded ammo has to be destroyed by 2011, etc. Nuts. They don't have to come for guns if they can make ammo so hard to get that it's irrelevant.
Now, I will say that I disagree with a bit of your last comment, mostly because of the stereotype involved with it. (I'm going to assume that by "Obama and his people" you mean African Americans.) Obama's people are more than just African Americans, but I'm not going to get into that, because it goes down a road I don't want to travel...the thread's about gun control not racial stereotypes...so I'll leave my thoughts there at "I disagree" and carry on. lol
I use the last comment just as a scenario of a likely situation where one would be better off with something besides "sporting arms."
It has happened in small areas in the past such as the LA riots and as recently as a couple weeks ago with the shooting of a man in Oakland. You are naive to think that if something happened to their messiah (I REALLY hope not for Americas sake ) there wouldnt be mass chaos and rioting, looting, etc in our major cities. Youll be fine in Lex and Lou would be ok but Id hate to be anywhere near places like LA, Oakland, Atlanta, DC, or my home town of B'ham. It would get ugly. Again though to clarify, I just used that as a possible scenario of WHY we should have the 2nd Amendment. I am not speaking bad about anyone here, even one of my best friends who is black and whos dad is the top dog LEO in Louisville agrees with me on what would probably happen if the worse shall happen to our President.
I do think AMMO is where they are going to hurt us. I dont see the Ammo Accountability Act taking place though. Similar systems such as the NYs ballistic finger printing database have proven to be ineffective and costly.
However, I can see bans on foreign made military surplus ammo. To me this is stupid. Who buys ammo in bulk? RECREATIONAL SHOOTERS! A ban on this kind of ammo only hurt the LAW ABIDING RECREATIONAL SHOOTERS ONLY. Any thug can walk into walmart and pay $10 for 40 rounds of ammo for his "glock foty" and thats all he will need for his gang bangin for a while. Raising the price on ammo is a horrible idea, it will do nothing to help murder or crime. If you raised the price up to $20 a round so what, some one hell bent on killing some one will spend $20 a round just as quickly as they'd spend 20cents a round, after all it takes only one bullet to kill some one. The people that practice and send thousands of rounds down range a year heck even a day sometimes simply could not afford this. In effect you would KILL the shooting sports industry in the US, and even to some degree the hunting industry too. Millions of people and millions of dollars would be negatively effected.
Itd be interesting to see how many murders are committed with foreign milsurp ammo.
They are going to hurt us by making the ammo so expensive to get. I know for a fact that a lot of your gang bangers go to a pawn shop and buy just enough ammo to load the gun. The won't buy the whole box. Don't ask me why. They will just steal what they need. So it is only going to hurt the hunters and the people who like to shoot.
They think if they make guns illegal that it will prevent crimes. Well cocaine is illegal but you can find it on most street corners in America. I wonder how that happened? It did not slow down the drug trade a bit. The law abiding citizens don't have any but the criminals do. The same thing will happen with the guns or ammo. But the law will make them feel better or something, if they pass a law preventing gun ownership; I don't know.
I know convenience (spelling) stores that the owners keep guns around the store. If someone tries to rob the place, it is dealt with a little differently than most stores. Word gets out, and those stores just don't get robbed like the other ones do. I wonder why?![]()
When they start to take our gun rights away this country is finished. Barack hates guns and makes no bones about it. He comes from a city and state that have strict gun laws and the criminals kill each other there at an incredible rate statistic. In fact Chicago has led the nation many times in criminal shootings and death rates.
Ryan is right those that choose to protect themselves and their property gain a reputation and are usually left alone after awhile. They even send a few scum to the criminal grave yard, good for them. If they take the guns away from the law abiding citizens in this country complete anarchy will follow. There is no such thing as a gun being a assault weapon. It doesn't have a brain to think with it justs lays there until someone picks it up. ANY and all guns can kill people in the wrong hands. My hunting equipment such as my 30-06 or my shotguns can easily be made into serious killing weapons if so desired. It has absolutely nothing to do with the type of guns that are out there. I personally think the law enforcment shoud be equiped with fully automatic combat weapons as just in case they need to fight fire with fire.
Ryan, I commend the job that you and your fellow officers do everyday dealing with the scum of the earth. The liberal media and the laws written have tied your hands and makes you guys out to be the bad guys way to often. But they aren't the ones out there being shot at by these idiot drug heads either....big difference. If they break into my house and I can get to Ole Painless quicker than they can get to me, they are going out horizontal, and I'm willing to fight for that right.
It's amazing what Barry has done to gun and ammo sales. Lets hope that he has more important things to do than try and make the country like Chicago. Wonder when Oprah is gonna be on his staff? Ummm..... I mean Cabinet.![]()
She'd like to do both. I seen this morning where Rod Blegoivich, Peppermint Patty, wants to appoint her to the senate seat, LOL, LOL.
Thanks Mark it is nice to know that we are appreciated by law abiding citizens.
