Unhappy Cabin Fever has turned into Cabin Flu

How many here have a bad case of Cabin Fever? I have changed out all my hooks on my topwaters, cleaned and oiled all of my reels, orginized my boat, waxed my boat, organized all my tackle, watched all the fishing dvd's I have (twice) bugged the heck out of my wife mopping around, put up cork board in my office to store all my misc. tackle, cleaned all of my fish mounts, bought a cool rubbermaid container that I can store all kinds of Misc. fishing items, like reels, old tackle, fishing line, etc. watched all of my fishing dvd's again, drove my wife mad mopping around again. Man come on warm weather, I need to go fishing badly before I lose my mind. What do you guys do to pass the time when the lakes are frozen over?

Everything you've done!! I've gone as far as internet fishing games!! LOL!! Started cleaning reels for my buddies, In fact when I see I've DVR'd a new show when I get home from work it's almost euphoric I know I can waste a half hour till dinner and then read an old Bassin or Bassmasters magazine, I've thought about organizing them into different seasons/lakes/alphabetic or numerical. I have started a fishing log but I've decided i was going to do it like a research paper and draw up a rough outline - then organize it into a finely tuned peice of equipment ready and waiting.

As you can see I'm there with ya!!

Everything you just said and especially drive my wife nuts, easy to do though. I do shed hunt deer antlers this time of year when it's not snowing. I get exercise for my big belly and it's fun to find them and you can get out of the house. I've fished less this winter than any winter in the last 5 or 6 years. I'm sorry fellas call it what you want but when it's 10 degrees you knuckleheads can have it, my ole bones just don't want it anymore, lol.

Ive been doing the same as the rest of you guys for the most part. Watching fishing shows, cleaning reels, organizing tackle, and then doing it all over again just to pass the time. I also surf the net and check out all the new tackle that has come out for the new year. Not really going to buy any new lures, but I have my eye on a new Fenwick Elite Tech Topwater Rod. I love my topwater!!! Anybody held one of these new rods yet? Curious to how short the handle is and how the action is

Who says you can't GO FISHING??? Laurel, Cumberland, Dale, Ky, Barkley, Green and a bunch more in TN certainly are not frozen over. Don't fish them but betting that Herrington, Taylorsville, Rough, Nolin might be wet as well. Winter fishing not only scratches an itch but you just my catch a big one as well. I don't go to Dale all winter just to scratch an itch, I go to catch fish and do so on a regular basis. Hook that Ranger up and take it to the ramp. Rest assured she will still float and run in 40 degree water just as good as 60 degree and above. Takes a few more layers of clothing and cleaning out a few more frozen eyes on your rods but they will still work as well.

Your right, she runs great, its just me that dosent do very well in the cold, the old bad knee just cant handle it anymore. I went back a couple of weeks ago to Dale and loved it, and I go every now and again, just not as much as I do in the spring, summer, and fall. Just getting the itch really bad, and with the weather coming, dont know when I will be able to get out again.

I know the problem Im laidoff right now and going crazy I will eventually go back to work but right now is boring the Ohio river sauger is tough right now Kincaid is all ice and Licking is ice so this stinks. When I get call back to work it will be overtime and little fishing time in the spring, if was up to me I would like to work now and take two months off starting in March, Ive only had one year like that and what a spring that was. I caught my first six pound large mouth caught my first four pound smallie and had another large mouth that weighed nine pounds out of kincaid. That is a tough lake to fish but your chances of a big one is there, there has been a lot of days that I fish kincaid and walk out with nothing but it is just puting your nose down and keep going and puting your time in and just getting lucky.

i have done it all to. seen all the shows and dvr all of them to watch again. i have oiled all my reels and cleaned my rods. read all the magizens and some old ones. but my new thing is making my own jigs and shaky heads, now the only thing is its driving me crazy waiting to try my home maid baits out. but if you want to pass time and save money in the long run try making your own baits. it is fun and its not that hard to do once you get it down. plus it keeps me from going crazy, it helps get my mind off of everyday life just like when i am fishin.

I have your cure.... 1 9'6'' rod, 1 reel, a few punisher fnf jigs, bobs bobbers, a spool of power pro 10lb braid, spool of pline 6lb floro, plenty of warm cloths and a good over cast day on any deep lake with smallmouth bass... call me crazy but unless the weather is just insanely cold below 5 degrees or its windy as all get out or blue bird skies.. there isnt no place i would rather be than on the lake watching them ole brownfish drop that bobber.... if u arent bothered by the cold there shouldnt be no cases of cabin fever... just recomendations for cat scans because u are going fishing adn its doing what out side....
