For me, it's just my opinion. Dance has credentials, and Zona, to me, he's just a flat out great angler. Love his humor, too.I can only speak for myself.

Curious about Zona and all this talk about him being a great angler. Where did this come from? Was he a local Pro in Mich.? Did he fish B.A.S.S. or FLW before? Any idea where he came from or what he has accomplished?![]()

Big Zona fan and have read a few articles about him. From what I know, he was a pretty accomplishe local tourney winner years back before he got into the broadcasting side. I did see KVD make a quote that said something to the effect "All kidding aside, Zona could fish the elite series and do quite well on it if he had to". I know KVD and Zona are buddies and we all like cracking on our buddies, but in the context that it was said as I was reading it told me that Zona was a pretty good angler in his own right. Either way, I still love his show and yes he almost did have his tongue down that catfishes throat. Thought he was trying to cure the fish of the bends with his tongue for a second. I would NEVER kiss a catfish at all much less for the few seconds that he kept the action going.
He has fished both FLW and BASS. Here is a link to how he did on both. Nothing spectacular after he started doing tv work, but pretty solid. In 2003 he was angler of the year on the FLW Stren Series Midwest Division.

Thanx fer the info on Zona. I don't know much about him.
Mark Zona was a boat saleman in Kalamazoo. BASS was fishing in the area and KVD told Ray Scott and BASS they needed to go and meet this guy. The rest is history.
