Finesse Jigs

Do you prefer finesse jigs or big jigs in the spring? I have better luck with finesse myself.

In the spring i normally go big! Unless a front has moved through, i'll scale down.

I use finesse jigs most of the time, unless I am dragging down a ledge, or if the water gets too muddy. I just seem to catch more fish with a smaller jig - caught a couple of 7 lb'ers last spring on a finesse jig.

I throw big jigs most of the time. Pressure and the hot days of summer may cause me to start throwing a smaller Bitsy Flip.

I generally go to 3/8oz. jigs and leave the finesse jigs for after the spawn and warmer water.

big jig for spring and low visibility conditions (dingy water or night fishing) otherwise finesse for me here on cland and dale. partial to the finesse jig from omega right now for flipping/casting and the jewel is the best finesse football around.

Since I fish shallow in the Spring I'm usually throwing jigs less than 3/8 oz. If it is heavy grass I'll step it up a notch.

I use a regular jig most of the time. If a front comes I will use something smaller. When it gets real hot and I'm fishing deep I usually use a 5/8oz or 3/4oz.

I think I'm going to try the Last Cast Finesse jigs this year. I like them becauase you can go to 3/8 and 1/2 oz sizes in a finesse jig. I'll still use a Paca Chunk or Zoom Speed craw for a trailer but create a little smaller profile. I heard LCF jigs are quite popular on Ky lake.

I use the Last cast hairy buy almost exclusively. It is a great design, and their colors are not your typical colors (green pumpkin is much darker than normal). The trailer choice makes a huge difference too.
