    Red face Re: PM messaging

one of the first things i learned fishing tourneys is to only listen and believe about half or less of the dock talk. but if someone is asking a direct question it deserves a honest reply. if you don't get that then remember who asks you and treat them accordingly. bubbabass are you still going to dh next week? i will give you some pointers. when you get bit set the hook and catch em in the lips HA!HA!

If Chunk and I will not be on Laurel on the 4th and 5th, which we won't for I will be back at Ky again, the forecast will be overcast both days, temps in the mid 60's, just a slight breeze to break up the calm surface, 5lb Smallies hitting Zara Spooks ALL DAY LONG, 5lb Largemouth hitting Buzzbaits fished in the standing timber ALL DAY LONG, 8lb Walleyes hitting the Lindy rig with crawlers ALL DAY LONG. Hope this helps.

    Re: PM messaging

I just found this place a while back and thought it would be a nice place to find out how the water was or if certain fish were biting without having to drive two or more hours to find out. ( Drive 2 1/2 hours to burkesville just to find out that the water is way up on the ramp and fish are not niting etc )After reading these post it appears that this is a place for turny fisherman and nothing else. I see myself as a good fisherman as well as a hunter etc but have no interest in pursuing my passtime in a contest fashion. I suppose I understand waht some of you are saying but I guess this place isn't for people like me. I am not interested in knowing what size bait, color, water temp and gps cordinates you know but just rather or not I would be wasting my time driving somewhere to fish. It is a darn shame that a few people have to destroy something that can be a good thing but I guess that those type people are everwhere. none the less I wish you all good luck on your future adventures in the field and on the water.

I think you are misunderstanding this forum. if you want to learn "how" to fish a certain way search the old posts and you will find help, if you want advice on fishing equipment, lines, lures and such you'll get it. Most of the guys here are avid about fishing and typing a few words here is like casting out a line at times from our computer. You get posts about great fishing trips, posts about someones child or grandchilds first fish. Mostly you get guys who are worked up about going to the water on an upcomming weekend and this site adds fuel to their fire and they are about to burst. Not just tourney fishing......

The original post MHall was upset because he informed a person(s) and would like to know if his info helped or if it didn't - was it for personal gain? sure, but not for the reasons you may feel it was for - you see a pattern could hold up for weeks at a time during transitional times and there are guys like me who keep a mental or even a written track of fish movements - thus "feedback", sometimes it is living vicariously through someone who is getting to do what you want to do (fish).

If a person in a client but does not have a trip booked with me on this trip down here (I don't expect my clients to book with me every time they come down here...heck most folks can't afford that nor am I available every time they want a trip) I will give them the most recent information as to specific areas and lures and patterns that have been working recently. These are clients that book with me once or more each season.

If a person is not a client (or has not booked a trip with me in more than a year) I will give them the most recent information on lures and patterns and general areas (obviously specific area information is reserved for my clients/sponsors and those I network with).

IF I want a report from any of these folks about how their trip was...I will ask them to let me know how they did when they get home AT THE TIME I give them the information. If they DO give me a report back I will remember that the next time they ask for information....If they DO NOT give me a feedback report after I asked them to...I am not going to contact them...but I will remember it the next time they ask me for information...and the information they get the second time may send them on a snipe hunt.

I get a number of requests each season from folks that I have never met, seen or heard of before that want specific spot information etc.....of course my business is fishing information as a guide so I am going to offer them a guide trip or map marking session at the going rate. Some of these folks will turn down that offer....they are looking for free specific information....I guess they go to Wal Mart and ask the folks there if they can have their merchandise for free also....it is the same thing in my eyes...I sell fishing information to make a living just as Wal Mart sells merchandise to stay in business.

Bottom line here is: I don't mind furnishing information....if I ask for feedback on that information I expect to get it...good or bad day...many times a feedback report on a bad day of fishing is just as if not more important than a good day of fishing.
Dave hit it right on the head here. He directed me to where I could get some general info about lures, temps and some other info. I would NEVER ask him about "spots to hit " unless I compensate him, (which I hope to do sometime this year by hiring him for a day) and even if he don't request info back about my trip I am going to PM him anyway and tell him the area I was fishing "what was going on " He was kind enough to do it for me and I will have no problem doing it for him. Everyone on here , well most on here when asking about a spot is just joking (except T-ville)) and don't expect you to give them your hole. I try to answer as honest as I can even to the point of the area I fish and what I was throwing. I have fished with a friend at T-ville where we didn't hit my spots cause I knew the guy would be on here doing his best Paul Revere the second he got home. ("We caught them here, we caught them here!!")
