I was at Wilgreen Sat evening and they had not moved up yet. I managed to catch ten buck bass off cranks. I am guessing it will happen around the full moon in two weeks. The lake and river levels and temp swings had thrown them out of whack.

Just curious if anyone knew if bass were spawning in most of the lakes around Lexington, like Cedar Creek, Herrington, Guist Creek, etc? I want to plan some pre-spawn or post spawn fishing trips, just was wondering when the best times would be. I have a feeling that the pre-spawn fishing is now over. It's so hard to tell what is going on with the up and down temps we have had this spring.

Just depends are where you are. There are bass spawning now some haven't yet and some are done, especially some of the smallmouth, even though alot haven't spawned. All that being said though everything is late this year in my humble opinion, so there are alot of pre-spawners yet to be had. It's a tough year to figure out, especially with the two to three cold fronts per week slammimg area lakes. Some lake areas reported lows on two nights last week in the 30's.
I've always believed that you need at least 3-4 consecutive nights in the upper 50's/60's to maintain any heat the water gathered during daylight hours. This would make for a more stable water temperature and would send the bass into mode. I've always used this and the 1st full moon in May as my gauge for creek fishing. The night time temps here in the Louisville area have not been that high for any consistent amount of time and the creeks around here are just not quite ready yet as far as the crayfish hatch and temps go.
I'd love to hear more on this topic...
They are locked down on C- land I know this for sureA guy I work with fishes at C- creek, said he saw several pigs locked down Friday.....
They're on the nest on Beaver Lake. I saw a couple on Herrington mon. Buddy of mine said several were on the nest on cedar creek sat.
Saw one on at Lake "E" in Lexington Sunday.
I fished Wilgreen last Saturday and graphed a bunch of fish suspended. Got blown into the trees a lot and didn't graph a single fish.. Fishing was tough!!
I have been Fishing lake "E" and catching a lot of fish in the 4-8 foot depth.
There are some being caught shallow but most of the sows are still deep.
SMLJAW fished "E" today and they caught about 14 including a couple catfish on crankbaits. Some of those were shallow. Every place I have fished has been about the same. There are a lot of fish getting ready to move up on the beds but I have not caught the first one with a bloody tail or even seen any on nests yet.. Keep in mind that I fish "E" a lot and I use this as a barometer for most of the other lakes I fish, as it has comparable size and structure of a lot of smaller lakes. I think things are moving slow but it's getting ready to be on like a pot of neck bones!!![]()
fished criags creek tonite seen a lot of fish on beds but they seen us first had several just lipping the plastics finally hooked up on one that was just shy under 5 and anthor that was pushing 2.5 to 3 we took first place and big bass with 3 fish at 8.02 ladys and gents my slump has come to an end they r on beds and hitting top water about time
Fished Lake E yesterday from 1:30 til dark. We saw some up shallow for sure but most were in 4-6 foot. We had a 4.3 with a bloody tail. Ended up with 14 total and had 4 over 16". I also lost one at the boat that was 4+. Big fish of the day was a 9.4 catfish that ate a jerkbait!
Where is "lake e"?
