    Football, Florida, Fishin, and Rodney

First of all the Football - Today was my son's first organized Flag Football game, he is 5, and it was my first organized Flag Football game as Head Coach, I felt like I was 5, and I know I was nervous before the start of the game. Trying to get 8 - 5 year olds to play offense and defense, luckily is is 5 on 5, at the same time is harder than landing a 10lb Smallmouth with 4lb test on a Snoopy Rod and Reel. But we came, we saw and we kicked a little tail, 44-12 was the final score and 6 of my 8 players scored their first touchdowns of their career. Only my son and my assistant coaches son did not score, but they will get their turn next game, actually my son was 20 yards ahead of the field about to cross the goal line for his score and the ref called a blocking penalty against one of my other players, no blocking in flag football. It was a good day.

Now Florida or Myrtle Beach, looking to take my wife and son to the BIG SALTY WATER the 3rd week of June. Considering Fla or SC and looking for any suggestions on places to go or stay from anyone that has taken this trip. It will be our first visit together to a location like this. Would like to attempt a charter saltwater fishing trip of some sort if I can swing it if you have any suggestions as well.

Fishin - Taking the same wife and son, like I have several of both, to Ky Lake for our 2nd annual trip to BIG UNSALTY WATER IN KY this coming Friday for 3 days. Looking forward to my son and wife with their Zebco 33's, shallow cranks or spinnerbaits and watching their faces light up when BIG MOMMA takes a hold of the other side. Probably an idiot but I put 8lb Flourocarbon in my son's and 10lb Flourocarbon in my wife's reels for I know it is the feel and less stretch that will help them catch more fish this weekend.

Rodney Carrington - My buddy Chunk and his significant other, plus my wife and I and a few more of my family tree was at Rupp last night to see Rodney Carrington in concert. That is one funny dude. Anyone else go and if you did, when he sang "Show them to me", did you see the results on the floor in the white half shirt? I did SEVERAL TIMES!!!!!

Be careful if you head towards Myrtle Beach, been hearing about the wildfires that are close by. It is a great vacation spot with lots of places to stay along the beach.

I have been on a charter out of Myrtle Beach at Calabash, it was a huge boat filled with seasick people, my dad being one of them. It was pretty crowded and whenever you caught something of any size you reeled it in with like 5 other peoples lines as well. My advice is get in on a smaller sized charter who is willing to travel way out into the ocean. We ran for like 2 or 3 hours before we ever wet a line but I caught fish all day long. Also fished from the beach and caught several baby sharks on shrimp and squid.

If you do head that way pm me and I can tell you my family's favorite restaurants, shopping, etc. in Myrtle Beach.

Where ever you go try to get a trip to catch some blue fish. I have caught alot of fresh and saltwater fish and this is the hardest fighting fish I have ever caught. They dont get real big, probably average around 10lbs but it feels like you have hooked a run-a-way coal truck. Plus they are pretty good table fair. Just me 2 cents if you think its worth that much.

Fort Walton / Destin area.. Green Water much whiter beaches, clean city with a great atmosphere for kids. Destin has a lot of charter fishing. Several charter boats leave everyday and you can pick and choose what you want to try to catch. If the Kings are running it is a blast. (bring dramamine)
Callahan's resturaunt (I think it's on ocean drive) has unbelievable food. Huge portions and great tastes.
A little further than myrtle beach but not as touristy. I have taken my family there several times over the past ten years and I love it..
I will be in Fla at the same time... I am Going to Miami this time.. Gonna fish in some private lakes and maybe try to catch some Peacocks..(visiting in-laws gotta find something to get me out of the house.)

Oh yeah.. Rodney is one funny dude!! He's a little rude... No, he's down right vulgar.. and as much as I am trying to be a better man I can't help but laugh when I see him on TV or hear him on XM / Sirius. ..FUUUNNNEEEEE

I second on Destin and Callahan's. That place has one beast of a prime rib.

As a newbie I hesitate to horn in till I learn some of how this works, but would second the whole Destin/Seaside/Panama City Beach area. Lots of nice places in between there too...I used to go to a seafood place called Goatfeathers in the Greyton Beach/Destin area. good, really fresh seafood at a reasonable price...and you can't beat the sunsets from the patio.

Fishing will be great for Nate, my son Joshua and my wife but Alan, yourself and I will not get a bite nor catch a fish. Only the first 3 get to catch fish on this trip. I had Josh out last night casting in the back yard. If the fish were up in the tree to the right, up against the house to the left, about 20 yards behind us then they were all caught. He made a long cast dead left into the tree and said "Was that a good cast daddy and I said yep, just like your Uncle Brandon, he like to catch the ones in the trees as well". Fun to watch a 5 year old kick start his cast with a little 2 step footwork. Plan on wearing full faceshield this weekend because last night was a jig with hook cut off, the weekend it will be cranks and spinnerbaits fully loaded. I see several minor surgeries this weekend performed on me by my wife. That guy that was posted that had the treble hook in his eye a week or so ago my just have a twin brother before it is all said and done. Just waiting for his Zebco 202 or my wife's Zebco 33 to load up with a Big Girl about to go on nest and watch their faces. Looking forward to it already. We are staying at Poplar Creek and if the weather is too bad for them to get out, I will still go and you are more than welcome to join me if you want Father and son to have some 1 on 1 time. You got my number. Hope you catch all of the ones that we don't.
