Was anyone driving the boat?

Had several friends about 10 of e'm from Pike County go out to KY lake last week. One day last week they were all fishing just about within site of each other when they saw someone being dragged behind a boat flailing thier arms and looking in distress, the boat that was dragging the person began circiling and these pike county boys went over to see what was wrong and if they could help...One of them dived in to help the guy that was being dragged and somehow the circling boat ran over him and sliced him on the back and the guy that was being dragged was already dead. We have been watching the news and searching the internet and cannot find any thing else on what happened no report of any kind of fatality/accident on KY lake....anyone heard about this?
Was anyone driving the boat?
Instead of diving in to help the guy while he was being dragged by a moving boat under power, why wouldn't you try to get along side the boat first to kill the motor, or cut off the throttle?
from the bbc board
it appears a individual was coming out of the back of mammoth furnace creek (Barkley), slowed down, then the boat speeded up. somehow he got thrown from the boat and got tangled up in a rope and was drug feetfirst. The boat was circling draging the poor man, while another boater came to the rescue. He attempted to board the boat but the boats collided throwing him into the water. he was then ran over by the prop...pretty bad laceration to his buttocks, but he will survive....We operated on him yesterday..................I hear the other man drowned....
Guess the main thing to learn here is to hook up the kill switch, and be careful of attempting a rescue if it will likely put yourself in danger as well. Glad the rescuer will recover. God bless the family of the victim.
That is terrible news. I was there last weekend fish'n with a group of guys. I have not heard about this until now. I always wear my kill switch and ask my buddies that drive my boat to put it on as well. That guy that jumped in the water to help is a hero where I come from!
I use a kill switch but i think my hot foot has saved me from getting wet more than one time.Terry Adolph
Wasn't much in the media on this accident, did find a small article in the Lyon County Press about it. It was reported in my fishing report last Thursday by the way. Bottom line here is hook up your kill switch, a simple thing to do that may save your life.
I'll never use the thing but after this report I'am going to make sure the thing works and use it. I just never gave it much though. Man I feel bad for that Family.
