Going to Green River Friday or Saturday night & just wondering what it was like right now??? Also what about a big colorado blade spinnerbait on this lake at night??? I'm not much of a spinnerbait fisherman & would way rather throw a tube, jig, & brush hog & an occasional worm. I thought with the moon going towards full it might be a good time to try & gain confidence in a spinnerbait. Also what colors do you guys suggest??? Thanks. Will give full report when I get back.

I havent been able to find them personally but I have heard of some big fish being caught after dark...seems like most of them are being caught in the wee hours of the morning....from 2-5....and i have to agree with skinny of the bait color of choice
Just my personal opinion which doesn't really matter but I don't care much for that lake at all. My dad and I fish a tournaments every year that some guys at his work put on. We fish Nolin, Green, Rough then it cycles back around and we hit them all again. The last tournament was at Green we caught one fish on a Green brush hog that another fisherman on the lake gave to us. The winner of the tournament brought in one fish also and beat us by like 2 ounces. My dad actually caught that fish I think I threw my whole tackle box for 8 hours and got one bite on a pig and jig. Last year I only caught one bass in that place. Some guys were saying that the Muskie have messed up the bass fishing in that lake. It could be a decent lake I guess but I just haven't seen it or maybe we just never hit the right spots. We have fish the 2 creeks down past the ****, in the cove and the bank behind the floating house boats and everything on the other side of goat island i think its called and haven't really done anything. I'd like to know the secerate of that lake forsure.
this lake fishes a little diffrent then alot of the other lakes i thank. i use alot more finess fishing at night and if you find a good spot most of the time they are loaded in there. i will throw a shakey head with a black grape robo worm or zoom trick worm on 8 pound test line and another thing i do is i dont use a black light or any type of light when fishin i like to sneak up on the spots and make long cast. the water is alot more clear then alot of other lakes most of the time so finess will work at night to. and when the moon is out i like to fish the banks that the moon is shining on.
i hope this helps
thanks
chuck
the fish are in there...no doubt about it....it took 20+ lbs to do anything in a tournament there this spring and still seems to be taking 15+ to win a tournament there now....and once the night bite gets turned on real good youll still see your 20+lb bags
I've had three to four different guys tell me this year that Green had the best spring it has had in years. Big fish both Brown and Green ones.
the musky have not hert this lake for sure. there has ben alot of 8 pounders cought and some of those where cought by people musky fishin. and there has ben a couple 7 pound smallies cought to. i cought a 7.8 large mouth this year in early april and have not fished since then. but will be there in a couple more weeks for the rest of the summer cant wait. my wifes uncle has ben down there since then he has a house boat next to mine and they are still catching good fish. the only thing is they like to eat what they catch for the most part, i need to get back down there to keep that from happining.
Thanks guys, I too firmly believe in Green when it comes to some good fish. I'll be fishing black& blue jigs, junebug baby brush hogs & a few tubes. I have caught them on this lake in the past. I just thought it may be a good time to try to gain confidence in a big colorado blade with all the cover green has. Thanks, I'll give a full report when we get back.
Ive never even seen the lake but ive heard it a real place in the spring.
Muskies don't mess up the bass fishing. Muskies and bass have coexisted in many lakes up north for 1000's of years and the bass fishing is great.
I fished there last friday night and caught a 5lb walleye on a crankbait. There were schools of walleye busting fish right on the bank for about 2 hours straight but only caught the one. The bass did not bite untill day break.
After the sun popped out I hit about 3 points and caught 4 bass that might have weighed about 9lbs. The other two with me in the boat were pretty frustrated when they caught nothing and was ready to go at 7:30am. Cant say I blame them. The morning bite is definitely on.
