    Talking Farm Pond Fishin'

Went to a friend's pond yesterday. He has been a long-time friend of my family, and retired from the KDFWR several years ago. He has a huge pond on his farm that has been stocked with largemouth for several years and the pond has all kinds of laydowns, stickups, and structure. I'm now 28yrs old and have been visiting the pond since I was a child -- with permission of course!

Fished on the outside edge of matted grass yesterday evening and had numerous blowups on a chartreuse and black buzzbait with a steady retrieve. Caught several bass in the 3-5lb range on the buzzbait. Also caught several on a popper around grass and stickups, but not the quality I was getting on the buzzbait.

I LOVE FISHING TOPWATER!!!! These fish were very active and I was fishing right around dusk, and in shaded areas as well. Every time I got bit, it was like a bomb going off in the water!!!

Just wanted to share it with you guys. No matter how much older I get, I still get the same feeling as when I was a kid when I see and hear a toad demolish a topwater. I think its one of the best things for my soul, almost like church........

    God Bless and Good Fishing!

Herrington Lake is about 5 min away from my house, and Cedar Creek is about 15-20min (depending on how much of a hurry I'm in to get there).
