Boat is Leaking, Any Help??

Ok I was out a couple weeks ago for a solid week on the lake and had no probems. Boat comes home and sits in my garage for two weeks, go to Barren this past weekend and about every 45 minutes the automatic bilge pump kicks on. This happened all weekend. I couldn't see where the water was coming in because of the four batteries and metal plates in the way. I know it is something small because it takes so long to fill up with enough to kick on the pump. Replace a live well pump last year that runs through the hull, think it could be that. If I put the plug in the boat in my driveway and put a water hose in it do you think I would see water coming out anywhere or do you think it needs a lot of pressure around it for water to come in or out. Please give me your opinions. Boat is a TR-21 if that helps any

if has a leak somewhere the water will find its way out that how i have always seen people water test boats

Fill your live wells first and recirculate them. tritons are good for that leak.

I'm with crazyfishnut. Put water in your livewell and leave it closed if it is leaking water should be dripping out of your drain plug.I have seen livewell pumps crack where the hose connects to them, letting water seep into the boat. Hope this helps. When you get it fixed let us know for future references.

i also agree its happend to my boat cracked pump.

Maybe it also could be that your plug in the back of the boat is not getting a good seal. This happen to my boat and water would slowly leak in, went to BPS bough a new plug put in the boat and haven't had a problem since.

i have a triton and can give you some info. i would remove my batteries from the boat, then, take the metal plate that has the auto circut breakers off. it is held in by 6 screws if im not mistaken. you can take a bungie cord to hold the oil resivore up so the pannel can be removed. this will allow you access to all the bilge and livewell pumps. you can see everything at this point, and im sure you will be able to see the leak. (it is also a great time to install livewell lights if you wanted to). another trick so to speak, is to take zip ties and put them around the pos cables and neg cables before you take them loose. this way you dont misplace or overlook one when you put the batterys back in. this is really handy if your running your electronics direct and fused.

almost forgot, after you remove the pannel. if you still dont find the leak. take it to the closest boat ramp and leave the boat on the trailer and back it in the water. with this pannel out, (if increased water pressure is needed to find the leak) you will be able to see all of the outside plugs that come through the hull and all your hoses (drain plug, and 2 aeriator plugs, 2 livewell fill plugs. i also have the triton schematics for the livewell system if you need me to email you the line/hose diagram.

could be the tube running from the speedo gauge to the pick-up on the transom if you have one. The tube runs inside the gunnel and is hard to see. My boat would only leak when going fast and took weeks to find.

If you had more weight in the boat at Barren, the leak may be up high. Like maybe around the tie down bolts or upper engine mounts. The added weight may be the reason it didn't leak the first time.

Ok this crap took all day. Everything is hard to get to and even harder to get to to fix. I filled the livewells first with the plugs in and main plug out, this was after I removed batteryand two metal plates along with the battery charger so I could see what was going on. Well no leak, then I hit recirculate, no leak! Then I decided to unhook the battery so the automatic bilge wouldn't kick on. I filled the boat up with water (sorry put the main plug in now), filled the boat up and was starting to get discouraged and then it happened. Water started to barely seep out one of the pumps that fills the livewell. Looked a little closer and under the neck of the pump there was a small crack in the 90* Went all over town to find one and finally at Lowes I found one that was about 98% the same . I hooked it up toonight and put aquarium silicon around it and I hope it works. I will fill the boat up again tomorrow night after the silicon sets up to see how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed that all is well because I am no mechanic and actually pretty bad at fixing things but I gave a great effort so I hope it works. Don't know why it cracked but I guess its from all the banging and vibration. Any thoughts, talk to you later!
