    Professor Gates

Alright after the guy shows his I.D. that he in fact does live there he should not have been taken to jail. However it sounds as if he was very confrontational with the responding officer and lit the fire to the fuse almost automatically when the police showed up. This guy is a known and renowned drum beater of so-called racial profiling, black rights ect.

I say alll that to say this. Should PRESIDENT Obama have said what he did? He starts by saying that he didn't know all the facts and wasn't there, but the Cambridge Police acted Stupidly, his words. Contradictary don't you think, that statement??? Went on to say Gates was his personal friend, wow, there's shocker, lol.

Should he have said what he did, was it the proper forum, for me NO!

Gates is another BLACK man with a chip on his shoulder.......HE along with the Sharptons of the world continue the VICIOUS circle of racism..........

The police officer was there TRYING to PROTECT Gates's property.....

Gates escalated the issue by becoming combative.........AND he GOT ARRESTED......it is a **** SHAME the charges were dropped......but that probably happened because Hates.......I MEAN gates has a high priced harvard lawyer friend defending him..........The PD didn't want to spend the money prosecuting this FOOL.

Finally if the police officer was as bad as GATES says, then why would this be said about him??

"Fellow officers, black and white, say he is well-liked and respected on the force. Crowley was a campus police officer at Brandeis University in July 1993 when he administered CPR trying to save the life of former Boston Celtics player Reggie Lewis. Lewis, who was black, collapsed and died during an off-season workout."

HM.........Gates is...........a BLACK man, who has OBVIOUSLY been kept down by white man's society....

I think he should have waited until the facts were in. From what I've read online, it seems that the cops were just doing their job and checking the house out because a neighbor had called them about someone breaking into the house. If that is the case, Gates should have shown his ID and then thanked them for checking out the house.

Couple other things I found online. In Massachusetts, it's not really a crime to be disorderly in your own home. The crime of disordely conduct has to be committed in a public place, and be done with the intent to cause public alarm. And it shouldn't result in an arrest, since the Legislature made it non-jailable after July 1, 2009. There is no legal requirement to produce ID, either.

The fact that Gates stepped out of the house and followed the cop is what probably led to his arrest.

As far as the racist comments, it also appears that Gates was out of line. A few years back the same cop that arrested him came across a non-responsive black man and give him CPR and mouth to mouth until the parametics arrived.

He fell on the side of a friend. I'm sure many of us would do the same. However, given that he is the pres, he should have gotten all the details before going out on a limb, in public, like he did. If the facts come out on the side of the cop (and preliminary evidence certainly suggests he was right), then I hope Obama is man enough to appologize to the cop.

If he was a black man kept down by society then how did he become a professor at Harvard?....... Did you notice that Obama has a lot of friends that are black activists.
PS: I'm not racist! I'm just full of "white Pride"!

Do you think that Gates could have set this whole thing up to further his agenda of protesting the treatment of blacks. I mean his neighbors know who he is and would recognize him would not call the police. It would not be out of the ordinary for a black person to be in that neighborhood because I'm certain that he has had black visitors. I would like to know who made the call to the police. It seems far flung to think that a person such as a neighbor that sees him often would call the police on a person of similar race and size of the owner of the house on his front porch.

    Re: Professor Gates

I saw an interview with a neighbor and he said that the way Gates was acting he should have been arrested.

If I come to a house on a break-in in progress or a burglar alarm and you don't want to show ID and act like an *&^ and won't tell me your name. You can stay in the Jefferson Inn.

I don't care, I will head home at the end of my shift.

i watched the news and the cop asked him to step outside and if u are in your home that is different than your front porch..... when he stepped outside of his house that man stepped into the public..... but its never good when u automatically become combative with a police officer cause that can lead to failure to comply charges and everything.... i think its all a bunch of hog wash to be honest what obama said about being more likely to be pulled becasue they are black or mexican that is rediculous in this day and age..... this whole race this and race that crap drives me insane i believe it dont matter who u are if u do the crime u pay the time and if that man was being disorderly by not following a direct order from a officer of the law he should spend the night in the ole jail... harvard professor or author or senator or whatever his occupation is... i just graduated from college not long ago and i had some professors that were extremists and i really wondered why i paid to take a class with a nut job like them.....

Not to hijack a thread. but college eletist, ivory tower professors can be among the dumbest people on this planet when it comes to common sense and how the world REALLY works.

Their entire existence is spent teaching 18 to 22 year olds year after year after year and eventually they come to believe that they(the professors) are the smartest people living.
They are insulated in their own domain and have a lot of power and control over their students.

Yes,the professors have knowledge, experience, and most importantly to them tenure in their small field of expertise, but get them into the real world and they have no clue as to what makes this the greatest country in the world.

    Re: Professor Gates

The officer involved was HAND PICKED by a BLACK police commissioner............to TEACH a class.....for 6 YEARS...........on racial profiling.....

Crowley is a police academy expert on understanding racial profiling and has taught a class on the subject for five years at the Lowell Police Academy after being hand-picked for the job by former police Commissioner Ronny Watson, who is black, said Academy Director Thomas Fleming.

Either he is really **** good at it...........or I't didn't happen........I suspect, the good Prof, is trying to make some SMACK off of this..........too bad the SMACK that didn't occur is the SMACKDOWN the bafoon professor needed.......

Just looking at him makes me want to smack the CRAP out of him.
