Peter, Dave, Andrew, Is there a way?

Is there anyway to make the off topics board a above 18 years of age option? I know......Kids could still find their way on here, true. But maybe it is something to think about. Also if this happened continue to monitor it the same as you always have, but at least now it would have a warning lable.

The events of the world are important to alot of people. I really only get to banter about this kinda stuff with you fellas and a few co-workers and that's about it. I suppose that's why I like venting on here. I know for sure sometimes I step over the line, my emotions tend to get the best of me sometimes. Anyway I digress.......Is it possible, would it help?

The other option would be to stop this board all together, or make some sort of special side entry to it or something, just kicking ideas guys.

Dave, Andrew, Peter, sorry we have been such a pain in the Keester we are just passionate about this junk and sometimes it shows.

id say make a board just for the NEWS AND POLITICS only and leave the off topic board to family stuff, jokes,and any thing not to do with NEW AND POLITICS

I don't know if that would work because some of the jokes can get a person in trouble. An 18 and over board with rules seems logical to me. The off topics board would become slow and I dare say comparable to some of the other seldom used boards.

IMHO..I can see a drop in the posts already from this latest hand slappin.

Interesting the topic that got this all started was sports related, not the political discussions that dominate here.

I've come to this site almost since it's inception. For the last couple of years this board, which by the way has the second most threads after Ky fishing is the main reason I visit it.

If our discussions are so offensive, why do you suppose other topics has almost twice as many threads as the next most popular board? The threads get heated because many of the issues are important to us. A heck of lot more people should start paying attention and get involved, it'd be a lot better for our country.

Dave, you've already said you didn't moderate other topics anymore, so rather than trying to get it closed why not just ignore it? This board affecting your business is a bit of a stretch. You've posted a few of your opinions here, so you have to admit it can be engaging.

I've asked several times for a more relaxed password protected discussion board. Even said I'd be willing to pay a reasonable fee for it. No, I don't want to make racist comments or attack anyone, just participate in debates without walking on a hard line moderator's eggshells.

Pretty hard for me to see how people could get so offended. Offended? Don't click the darned link.

I have fishing contacts and memberships in local and statewide fishing organizations. For whatever it's worth I've pointed way more than a few people to fishin.com.

Well that's my 2 cents.

Well, I was responding to this thread because it was addressed to me as well as other moderators. And no I will not be moderating this board continuously like I have in the past...the reason is that I am too busy to have to read every post here every day...like I said, this board takes more time to moderate than the rest of the site put together and the reasons have been repeated enough.

I will, however, when I have time spot check this board...and enforce Peter's rules...period.

There is absolutely no more need for discussion on this matter....Peter has made his feelings on this known by his sticky post at the top of the board...nuff said. I suggest if you want the rules to change..you email Peter with your suggestions.

I see all the replies and on a quick look some very valid opinions/ideas. Now I just have to find a week to take off so I can read all them carefully. Maybe this weekend. Many times you guys know a lot more about these boards than I do!
