Orwells Animal Farm and 1984........A quick poll.

OK....who here has read these books.

    I've read both......more than once.

If you've read them, a simple Yes, or NO will suffice, but comments are welcome .

I read both of them when I was in High School, more years ago then I care to think about. I do remember that Animal Farm was compulsary reading but when I happened to bring 1984 to school with me to show a friend, one of my teachers saw it and said I "shouldn't be reading such trash!" We are well past 1984 but we are fast "getting back to the future."

    Yes.

Also read Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" back in the day too. No wonder I'm a wacko.

My World Affairs teacher......a pretty serious liberal......made us read Animal Farm and 1984.

Funny thing....he NEVER, EVER made his ideas on politics known. I only found out about his political views after high school.

I had him in AP history and AP Government also.....GREAT, GREAT teacher.

    Mr. Carl Siler.......here's to you.

If having read Brave New World makes someone a wacko, its no wonder some people have thought I was strange. Besides Brave New World, Animal Farm and Nineteen Eightyfour, I have read the Bible, The Theory of Evalution, The Federalist Papers, War and Peace, Mein Kampf, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Crime and Punishment, Point Counterpoint, The Communist Manifesto, Das Kapital, The Pit and The Pendulem, and most, if not all, of the Classics, depending on whose list you consider for the Classics. As you may be able to guess, I have also read a few other things.

I would have to say no to having read either if them. Must not have had any pictures of deer, bass, guns, or the ladies in them.......yes, I am that shallow.

If you got through "The Pit and the Pendulum" nightmare, you're a strange dude for sure. "A Descent into a Maelstrom" scared me pretty bad and I think it's is a Poe story too. I maybe killed those brain cells because I can't remember.
