east wind for over a week

We went to Barren Friday night and Saturday. Thanks for info on motels, we ended up in the Comfort Inn in Glasgow. The motel caters to fisherman, with plenty of room to park rigs, power outlets for battery chargers, and continental breakfast starting at 6 am for free. They will even set breakfast out early if you tell them the night before.
We ramped in at Pennisula at 5pm Friday night. Gizzard and Alwife shad were easy to get right close to the ramp. Two throws of the cast net and we had 2 dozen good sized baits. We fished the dam area, clean up to the island with shad, chicken livers, and ight crawlers and caught zilch. Fished up till 10 pm. No jumps we could see anywhere. Trolling motor used.
We tried again Saturday morning at 6 am. Same area, including infront of the island down from the dam, and around the walls, the whole way around to Baileys point. Just used nightcrawlers and chicken livers. And again zilch, and not topwater jumps seen at all, save a couple single fish pops. Trolling motor used.
Saturday night 5 pm to 10 pm, trolling deep diving crank baits in shad colors, spoons, jigs with white curley tails, and shallow running chrome and solver shad crank baits netted a couple hits, but not real hook ups. Trolled the Merc at idle.
Even had a hard time catching bluegills, under bobbers 5-8 feet down near the banks with worms.
We wanted to get on Hybrids, and white bass jumps.
Was it slow for you all, or was I just at the wrong place or wrong time, or wrong baits or what? Little frustrating. But still enjoyed getting on the water.
AND YES! I WAS SOBER THE WHOLE TIME I WAS THERE!![]()
east wind for over a week
I don't know if it has just been me but anytime there is an east wind my fishing has always seemed to be quite a bit slower...maybe its a mental thing and I don't put as much effort in it at those times , wind from the north is about as bad.
fishing was rough for me on the 13th. only half of the people in a tournament had fish. i caught several bass, but only two 15 inch or bigger. lots of smaller ones. with several being 13 or 14. found them close to the banks with the bite in about 3 to 5ft of water with plastics right in sturcture. never could get any big fish, but then again i think the better fishing was in the big water (state ramp, dam type areas). i fished up skaggs.
Had a tournament the morning of the 12th and the fish seemed to be on pretty good....we caught fish the whole day...our biggest 5 weighed 13.59 and the smallest was 16 1/2".....most boats in our tournament weighed fish and there were several limits weighed...purely by accident i caught a few whites on the grassy flats on a spinnerbait...had a lot of fun
10" powerworm soaked in Budlight....kills them everytime!
