"The Great Stone Face," or "Stoneface" is located in Pennington Gap, Virginia. It is said to mark the entrance to Cherokee holy ground.

That would be my guess, though I have only seen it once. My late grandpa was a retired coal miner and had worked a mine near there back in the day and we took him on a sight seeing trip to different places and we saw the Stoneface.

That is correct, growing up we called it by a different name, but to be politically correct the US Forest Service changed it to "The Great Stone Face". It sits in the Gap through Stone Mountain on Highway 421 which runs from Pennington Gap,Va all the way to Milton in Trimble county,Ky across from Madison,Indiana and up through Indiana I suppose.
Nice scenic drive if you can stand it.

I guess it does kind of resemble Richard Nixon though.
