42-years-old and never had the flu in my life. My wife gets a flu shot every year, because she is an RN in an emergency room and it is mandatory. I will not get any medical treatment that I do not need and the media is the one blowing the entire H1N1 virus out of the water.
I got my regular flu shot this morning. One of my fishing buddies got the regular flu shot last week and is waiting for the swine flu vaccine because he has been dating some real pigsI have been a cardiac telemetry RN for over 8 yrs. We have been seeing numerous cases of people infected with H1N1 over the past couple weeks. Although the treatment for the H1N1 flu strain is the same as the treatment for the regular seasonal flu (tamiflu) the H1N1 flu strain is more severe in its attack on the body. Those at highest risk are the immunocomprimised, elderly, and children. This is nothing new. We have already had swine flu scares back in 1970's, when a vaccination was produced and given. Although this swine flu is being presented as a new thing, it has been around for a long time. And YES, people are DYING from this flu strain!
I highly recommend receiving the annual flu shot, as well as the H1N1 when it becomes available to the public. By the look of it, as we are not even in the flu season yet and we are seeing numerous cases of the H1N1 flu strain, it is going to be a long flu season.
As for contracting the flu from the flu shot, it is scientifically impossible. However, the flu shot does take up to 2 weeks to become effective. This is more than likely what has happened to the people saying they got the flu from the flu shot. Rather, they were either exposed prior to, or within 2 weeks after, and then got the flu. GET YOUR FLU SHOT!

Is this a joke ? I really dont think anyone would make this decision based on politics. Would they ?What? What is this this stuff I'm reading?
Do you guys realize that you are going along with Obama's recommendation? He is saying that Americans should get the flu vaccine. And you guys are doing it.

I think it makes good sense to get the flu shot. A few people have said their employers are providing it free so thats a bonus. When I worked for the Salvation Army they insisted we have the shot as we worked with young moms and their small children. During flu season, children easily transmit the flu virus and its so easy to catch. If you have children you know how easy they pick it up at school. Best to be safe and get it. In fact, it seems to help build up my immune system as I am never sick now. I have been getting it yearly. Cuts down on sick time from work too.![]()
If you were unsure of wheather or not to get this shot , read this link. I havent researched their numbers , but if they are correct , I believe I will get the shot and so will my daughter. I was origionally against it , but I may change my mind.

Well,I've tried for several days to get my son an H1N1 Vaccine, but there is no such animal in Northern Ky. I'm not too concerned about myself here on the farm, but there are several cases of it at my son's elementary school and children are the most susceptible to the virus. The pediatrician office and area Health Dept's have no idea when the CDC will release any vaccine to them.
