Rich - When I only have a few hours to fish, I prefer hiking the shoreline. (My buddies call it the Batan death march) If you're in a boat there's the danger of navigating the river, plus it's really easy to spook the fish and displace them because they're moving in tight pods. So I recommend the hike. When I boat it, I prefer the canoe. Show up an hour before daylight, the bite slows around 9am, or show up late and fish the evening and into the dark. (Turns back on). This spring it was all white bass and no hybrids, this fall it's all hybrids and no white bass. Go figure. Hope you get to go 'cause when the water is gone, so are the fish, and they're pulling the hell out of that lake right now. One last thing, no access to these areas (by foot or boat) after Oct 31.
