Lost race 3 but NAILED them in race 4, TAPITSFLY, all day long. Nice little chunk of $1300 coming my way from the nice paramutual wagers. Thanks to all that wagered on Race 4, I appreciate the donations. Not bad for a $20 win bet and $10 exacta bet to get back 40 times the money.

Elnut,I used to be a regular ar Turfway in Florence and kept up with all the horses at other tracks too.Always loved the Breeders Cup,especially when they had it at Churchill,but the economy has me so far down I don't have a cent to spare.Wish I would have looked them over,I cancelled my DRF online account over a year ago,I always manage to hit a few good ones.
I have family in the Horse Racing industry,but it's hurting here in Kentucky thanks to nearly every state around us having casino's.

Going to hurt worse real soon for Ohio just voted and approved 4 casinos, not riverboats, casinos to be in Cincinnati, Toledo, Columbus and Cleveland. Our horse industry is facing some real tough times in trying to compete with gambling and if Kentucky does not get on board and on board quick, you can say good bye to Turfway and Ellis Park for sure and the great Churchill will take a big hit. Don't see anything hurting Keeneland but the rest are in trouble. When a $5,000 claiming race here has a purse of that price or less versus the same race at Mountaineer has a purse of $9,000, where would you run your horse. When you are running for 60% of the purse money to win and the same race pays $3000 to the winner in KY versus $5400 to the winner in WV and other states with gambling (ie, Indiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania), the other states will get more of our horses. I see small tracks in other states that have gambling / basically slot machines at the track and their purses are almost double what they are here in Ky. I think more and more owners are going to ship their horses to the tracks to get part of this casino money, more and more trainers will move their tacks to these tracks which means loss of more jobs in Kentucky. I know if I was an owner and had to decide then I would send my horse to another more lucrative state to run. A $5,000 claiming race is the same type of horses whether it is in Ky or other states. The breeding industry is pretty much set in Kentucky and the better horses will continue to come here to be bred but the claiming horses is what makes the industry go around. No telling what the percentage of claiming races versus allowance and stakes races but look at any typical 9 race card at any track on an average day and you will find 5-6 claiming races versus 2-3 of the other. Kentucky needs to approve slot machines to be placed at their tracks at Turfway, Red Mile, Keeneland (but I don't see the prestigue of Keeneland ever being messed up by slots but do see some sort of agreement between Red Mile and Keeneland that would allow slots on The Red Mile property but Keeneland gets a part of the money), Kentucky Downs, Ellis Park, Churchill and their off track betting facility. The people that bought the Red Mile a few years ago, only bought it in hopes that they will get slot machines. The horse industry is in trouble in KY and things need to change or we will lose our race tracks for a long time to come. I don't see Keeneland running any more dates than they already are and Churchill is already competing with the gambling boat across the river to get any more dates. If not for the Ky Derby then Churchill would be in big trouble as well. I see breeding prices being dropped across the board on the better stallions, a sign of the economical struggles we all face, and this will reflect in the price of the sales at Keeneland and Fasig Tipton as well. Tough times and it needs to be addressed.

Mostly ignorance among voters in the state,same as the reasoning behind having Dry counties,doesn't stop a thing,just causes drunks to drive further distances or promotes illegal bootleg operations.Like home schooling your kids,you can hide them from the real world for a spell,but sooner or later they have to face life.
I'm pretty sure it's been on the ballots twice and voted down both times,yet Millions of Kentucky $$$ goes out of state to casinos,money that could have helped this state,although I don't trust any politician with any money.

I play cards at the riverboats just outside of Cincinnati and that is money that could be staying here in KY. I agree that continue to vote no on certain items just because we are so afraid of the potential problems is wrong. Let the counties be wet, let there be casinos in KY and lets have a little faith in mankind that we are not all going to go off the deep end and become drunks with gambling problems. First to agree that casinos in KY will cause some to have gambling problems, cause some additional marital problems, possible higher divorces......but also know it will also provide more good paying jobs that will get people off unemployement, help them have a career and possibly help marriages and families because of a stable employment. Take your pick, helps some hurts others but is that not pretty much the way it is all around. Tired of being told what I can do and not do. If I wanted to drink then I would get my alcohol, if I wanted to gamble then I would go and gamble, let adults be adults and have enough faith that not all decisions made would be bad ones. As it stands with gambling boats just outside of Paducah, Louisville and Cincinnati, there is a massive amount of people in KY that are within an hours drive of a casino and if we want to bet, we will go and bet. Put casinos in Ky and we keep money in the state, increase jobs, and even will bring in people from other states that don't have casino's to our state to gamble. Win Win the way I see it.

You won $1,300 - $30 bets = $1,270 profits.
$1,270 divided by 50 hours = $25.40/hour for studying the Racing Forum. That equals a 40-hour work week plus 10 hours of overtime. Since you have been sick, I gave you a break and didn't deduct income tax. lol

Several years ago we went to the Greyhound Dog Track in Pensacola, FL for the weekend dog races. I walked up to the window and told the ticket agent that I wanted one Trifecta and entered the numbers I was playing. He was Cuban and pretended not to understand English very well but did finally hand me a ticket. We went and sat down and Dog #1 walked outside the track, humped up and left a huge pile of doggie poop. The person with me said, "You should have bet on that dog. He just unloaded five pounds and will outrun the whole bunch." I said, "I don't think so, his odds are 46-1." I was thinking about my bet and, for the first time looked at my ticket and my heart just sank. The ticket agent had placed my bet on Dog #1 (the worst in the pack) instead of betting my Trifecta; he had also kept my change and I couldn't prove I asked for the Trifecta. I was fully steamed and couldn't enjoy the race for thinking about what that guy did to me. When the race was over I saw people ripping up tickets and tossing them into the air. Dog #1 was the winner and I walked up to the window with the shortest line and collected my winnings. I looked over at the person with me and said, "Thanks for the racing tip. Next time I'll bet on the dogs that dump before the race." lol

My wife likes to bet on horses that drop a pile,sometimes it works and sometimes not.Lately it's worked for her more than not.

Sometimes better to be lucky than good. Ended up giving back some of my winnings but still came out $500 to the good. Needed a little luck today, have a 4-11-7 trifecta and it comes 4-7-11, have a big pick 3 where I hit the first 2 legs and get nosed out for the third leg, and these 2 bets alone would have made today better than yesterday. But that is racing/gambling whatever you want to call it. Never liked Zenyatta in the classic and she proved me wrong by running an AMAZING race. Never thought she would hit the board much less win but that is racing. There is always the next race, in about 15 minutes.
