    Cards basketball concerns

Well after that debacle last night one can only think it's gonna be a long season. I know we had half the team sindlined with injuries but there is no excuse for giving up that many three point looks. Pitino has his work cut out for him this year.
If Louisville makes the tourney this year, it will probably be one and done or a sweet sixteen at most and that is only if they stay healthy.
Samardo Samuels is the weakest big man with the ball that I have ever watched. He doesn't jump win he try's to rebound and guys inches less in height than him takes it from him all the time. I am so not impressed with his game. When he goes up and gets fouled he NEVER finishes a play either.

Pitino would be better off benching Samuels and giving VanTreese more minutes. I'm also not at all impressed with this years recruits either. I realize they are just freshman but if these guys all fit the rank boards where I read they did, they are VASTLY under achieving at this point.

Sorry for the rant, I'm gonna stay up beat the best I can and will support regardless, but this is gonna be a 10 to 13 loss team I'm afraid to say. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I think it is too early to get overly concerned. I pretty much agree with Samardo, he needs to finish around the basket, I am just not sure he is physically capable of doing so.

I believe the three point shots given up were a big result of not having Knowles and Smith out on the zone. They have three and four years experience playing major minutes in that zone. I also think missing T-Will and Earl with their lnegth on this wing is a big factor. I disagree somewhat about the Freshman class, they are exactly what I thought they would be. I also think that just like in past years, you will see vast improvement between now and the new year when can Pitino runs two a days while there is no school He will als narrow the rotation down at the first of the year, probably to 8 or 9 that see any significant minues the rest of the way. At least that is what he has doen the lest few years.

I agree with you all about Samantha Samuels. She plays like she is 5'8". They need to take her down to Crawford Gym and let her learn to play like a man. That place was a tough place to play basketball.

I just hope Rick can use the loss to work in their favor. Kinda like he did last year against WKU.

LOL, Ryan he does play like a girl, no offense ladies. A good strong breeze could knock that guy off the blocks, lol. A word for him comes to mind and it starts with a P, but I won't say it as I don't want to get into trouble.

Marra was one I was referring to. Pitino said he was the greatest High School three point shooter he had ever seen..............................Uh what, maybe it's ink poisining because he hasn't shown me squat. His foot speed is horrible to, I'm sure he'll get better, not busting on the kid but read all the Hype and I guess I was expecting too much. I do like Buckles but he has a long way to go. Siva is good but he to was overrated in my opinion.
I kind don't understand why Pitino isn't getting the five star talent like he did at UK. IF they were in fact going to play for the man, then why isn't he getting them now, maybe we need to hook up with World Wide Wes and start lining some pockets, lol.

Siva was a five star McDonalds All-American. Buckles and Van Treese were four stars I believe. Samardo was the USA Today National Player of the Year. He just hasn't developed the toughness he needs to play down low. I don't think recruiting is a problem. Other than North Carolina, nobody is signing great classes each year.

I didn't know Siva was a five star and also didn't know Van Treese was a four. I wonder why he isn't getting more playing time? I did know Buckles was a four.
Samuels needs some bench time to figure out if he can play tough at the Five spot. He pouts alot too I've noticed when Pitino jumps him.
I just wish Louisville could once get a DeJuan Blair type, seems like all we ever get is these finesse tippy toe guys, I want a center who will bring the thunder and make somebody pay.

With Siva, Smith, and Knowles all sidelined due to injury, it is hard to gauge the quality of Basketball these guys might be able to play. It is hard to bake a cake when three of the key ingredients are missing.

Yea I said that going in and you are correct. I guess what I was taken back by was the lack of defense and intensity. This team has no identity yet whatso ever and no apparent leader. It sure can't be Sosa to lead, poor kid just doesn't get it and I don't think he ever will.

Love me some Mills, wish your back would hurry up and heal so that I can insult your sports knowledge here! LOL, just kidding brother, we got some work to do, but the difference in Louisville and IU is two fold. We will still make the NCAA Tournament, and we are replacing two NBA lottery picks....oh I almost forgot there are three differences....Harry Potter is not coaching our team!

Miss you being on here Clyde.
