If you want rant and makes posts and comments on current political activities, do so without name calling. If you can't rant without slamming and name calling DON'T RANT!!

I respectfully disagree with your decision to imposed this rule against members having fun with the names of politicians. It's just a form of harmless comedic relief. Nobody, that I can remember, has ever used curse words or vulgarity in the names they used and there have been no shootouts or knuckle bumps because of it.

All is fair in love and war. If the politicians are elected by the taxpayers, paid by the taxpayers, receive healthcare paid for by the taxpayers, live in lavish homes and take vacations paid by the taxpayers, take bribes under the table, take money from lobbyists, vote themselves raises while the rest of the country is struggling to survive, pass legislation that gives them tax breaks while the low/average income worker is drowning in taxes, and empties the Social Security fund to pay for a war in a country that was no threat to America (remember my brother was killed in that war), I think it is only fair that we get something in return for our money. If calling politicians names that you don't particularly like is all we get in return, take the bridle off and let the horses run. We deserve to call them whatever we want and they deserve to be called those names as long as we keep it clean. We do not respect crooked politicians and requiring us to call them politically correct names is only putting lipstick on a pig.

Please rescind your rule and let us have a good tobacco spitting contest at the politicians. Even European leaders call Obama "all suit and no tie," shallow, lacking common sense, self-worshiping, no leader, thinks he's the Messiah, and narcissistic.

    Thanks for reconsidering this rule.

Bug, from what you cite, the Europeans know how to have a discourse in a civil manner and, depending on actual usage, those things could be acceptable; however, calling people liars, cheats, extortionists, flaming idiots, illigitemate offscprings, the end of the alimentary cannel, pukes, etc., is name calling which most people would not do directly to someone's face and won't be allowed on this board.

If you want to be able to call politicians or anyone else those things, start your own website and you be responsible for the law suits that ensue.

I have never had a desire to call my worst enemy any of those names because they are not acceptable. I was thinking in terms of some of the lighthearted references that I had read on this board.

    Have a Merry Christmas!

    Re: Slamming

How about the phrase "Nobama"? Is this something that would be considered material for a lawsuit? Also Grumpy, what are you talking about lawsuits and such, is there any truth to that and if there is can you go into more detail? I mean who the heck would persue a lawsuit against fishin.com just because a fellow board member called a politician a liar? Are you serious about this?

Anyway...Hey Bug, GREAT posts you placed on this thread...I agree with everything you said!

    Re: Slamming

MHALL and anyone else that wants to call politicains, and others, names, some people would like Peter to do away with the Off Topics board altogether, so if you want to keep this board, keep your posts civil and within the rules. As long as this has been going on and as many posts that have been deleted, I can't believe that people don't know when they are going to far BUT CHOOSE TO DO IT ANYHOW. Keep it up and you, me and the rest of us are going to lose the priviledge.

    Nuff Said,

    Grumpy
