Sitting here at work, cold, bored, thinking about warmer days and fishing. THis ole gal popped in my head. My personal best. I measured her and she was 24" in length but couldnt get her girth. This was in July so not full of eggs or anything like that.
What do yall think? She is the only fish I regret letting go. She drew a large crowd and people where even getting on their phones calling other people to come look!
My guess would be 6 1/2 to 7 lbs. Nice Bass.... Don't be upset about letting it go. You may have helped make a memory some kid will never forget. Someone else may have let it go before which had the same effect on you. Great Job.Sitting here at work, cold, bored, thinking about warmer days and fishing. THis ole gal popped in my head. I'm thinking 6lbs but man it's hard to tell. It's a good one for sure!
I would say appox 61/2 lbs but its hard to say by just looking at a pic.
Around 7lb or so maybe just a fuss less but probably not much.
I guesstimated her around 7lbs, she was skinny but 24" in length is pretty long. She ate a live bluegill. Ive pulled several nice fish out of that small neighborhood pond in Eastern JeffCo.
Good fish I agree a tad under 7. I can remember people who used to catch big fish typically muskie and drive around showing everyone back home with the fish in their trunks or back of the pickup. Yeah its nice to have the attention but it will be over and you will be left with a big dead fish. You got a picture be happy with it you did the right thing. Especially in a small pond like that.
Yes you did the right thing ! If you ever want to have one mounted. You can take several pics and the Measurements/Weight. And have a fiberglass replica made. And release the fish ! No one would ever know unless you told them that it is a replica.
Nice fish ! I think you did the right thing by letting her go ! She will produce a lot of eggs this spring. Very important on small bodys of water to let the big ones go so they can spawn. The larger the female the more eggs laid. Therfore keeps the pond/lake producing more and i think bigger bass. I have a freind that was catching and keeping 5-8 pd. Bass and keeping them from a small lake. Then after about 2-3 years later wants to know why he cant catch any fish over 2-3 pds. I think when you remove the large females from a body of water the quality/size of bass goes down after a while. I kept telling him to take pictures and let the big ones go. Keep the 12-15 inchers to eat if you must ! He would say......i paid for my lic. And im getting my moneys worth of fish to eat. I told him to go crappie or bluegill fishing if he wanted to eat fish !
I would say 6lbs as well. Nice fish! Looks like you were fishing some duck pond in a neighborhood or something.....heck of a fish for a pond like that! Good job letting her go.
