how to keep pets out of the garden

I was planning the garden for this year and remembered some folks asking how to keep cats and dogs out of the garden. Hope this helps.

Rue (Rutus, not Peganum) keeps cats and dogs off garden beds if planted round the borders.

Hey thanks for posting this...I'm gonna print it out. But explain something to me...they show a plant, it's companion and their functions, Basil for instance...the tomato plant is Basil's companion, what do they mean by "companion"? I reckon it's the basil that helps repel flies and mosquitoes?

Companion just means to plant these near each other. I am not an expert on this, I just found this guide last fall and have not used it yet. You can do a google search on "companion planting" and several of these guides will show up. Some are more informative than others and some go into great detail while others just have a chart.

    Good luck.

I just got an invisible fence for my dog. It happens to be in my back yard where my garden is. I was trying to figure out how to keep her out of the garden. Now all I need to do is figure out what Rue is.

I found another site that explains what it is. Part of it is really just crop rotation. I guess in the case of basil and tomatoes, the basil is supposed to attract the bugs away from the tomatoes.
