    Where oh where to go?!!

    Going fishing Monday w/ Smljaw.
We figured everyone else on this board will be on the water this weekend. So.... We'll be checking for the Fish stories on Sunday night and try to hatch a game plan on where to go. We have it narrowed down to The KY River, Cedar Creek, Lake "E", or possibly Cave Run.
We were looking for bass, so we're kinda putting the River last.
Lake "E" is close and we can be Fishing early and stay later (As fishing allows) (for those that don't know, "E" is our club lake)
Cedar Creek is about 1hour away and I imagine that it is about to take a spanking like no other this weekend.
The last is Cave Run.. It takes about 1:15 to get there and although I have spent Hundreds of hours on the lake, I have only been there maybe twice in the last few years.
Anyone got any news, insight, reports on Cave Run. etc...?
    Sooooooooooooo
All that said... Where would you go? What would you throw? Let's hear it!!

I grew up fishing Cave Run, mostly for crappie, and unless you are a muskie fisherman I would avoid it like the plague. To catch anything decent, bass or crappie, you have to go up the river and fish. TONS of trees to watch for because it's not marked. Can't tell you how many tournaments were won on catches under 10 pounds. Everyone has a good day every now and then, but more often than not you're wasting your time. Save the gas!

I appreciate the advice... Hey wait a minute....
You sure your not holding out on me and just don't want another boat on your lake?
I used to fish it a lot and it has always been a good lake!
I know it has gotten clearer over the last several years and has gotten more difficult to fish but there have got to be some huge Largemouth and smallmouth in there still. I know of a couple tournaments that went out of Alfrey or Clay Lick that had to have upper teens to win 2 years ago...
    ********
Either Way, Wouldn't be opposed to catching Muskie, but yeah we are looking mainly for the Green or Brown Girls with out the sharp teeth.
    Thanks for the heads up..

I don't fish it but once or twice a year, only when camping there, anymore. Me and my buddies call it the Dead Sea. There aren't any shad in it, not like the Western Kentucky lakes that have all the fishin'. All they have to eat are bluegill, then again maybe that is the key to catching them! Should be plenty of boats on it.

Cool Re: Where oh where to go?!!

Seems like Rough River lake would be a good place to go right now. Why not try there?

Personally, I would take the KY River and look for rip rap and lay downs...anything that is going to warm up the water around it will surely hold a bass or two right now!!

I went to Morehead State University and fished Cave Run quite a bit while I was there...never had much luck with the bass though. Found better luck with the college chicks at the spillway.
