All this beautiful weather and nobody hit Barren this weekend?

Lotta folks on BRL yesterday. I was one of them. Water 41 at state ramp in the morning. Highest I saw was 51 in inches of water at the back of a creek. Temp pulling the boat out around 2:30 was 47. Water on the main lake was clear to slightly cloudy with a nice green cast to it. In the creeks it was a bit cloudier.
Worked on brush piles mostly. Was crappie fishing and didn't catch the first fish.
hit Barren over the weekend, not much luck. Caught a few short crappie and bass. trolled all over but no luck on hybrids.
Hit Barren sat. and it was too clear. Didnt catch that first crappie or stripe.
What the deal? Is it just to soon? I hit it today and BLANKED on bass! It sure was beautiful out there though......just felt like the fish should have been eating?Threw everything I had at them.....worked primaries, secondaries and even the backs of creeks. Warmest water I got was 51.5 degrees in a foot of water. Water was slightly stained up the creeks and clear around Bailey's. Hope it picks up soon, can't wait for the water to start filling up!

Dont feel bad. I bass fished for 9 hours Saturday and blanked. I am not a great cold water fisherman anyhow. But I thought I could atleast get some short fish........thought wrong!
If it stays warm the bite will change in a hurry!
Hopefully warm rain this week will turn them on, bass, crappie, and others. I just have no concept as to what is under the water when the lake is at winter pool. All my spots are high and dry.
I had the discussion with my dad about the fact that if you were to place brush or attractors for this time of year they would be useless for any other time becuase they would be too deep with the lake up.
It will happen in the next couple weeks. Fish will start to move up. Remember only that first foot or two is in the mid 40's but once you get deeper it's still much colder. Once the sunshines and the days get longer and the rains come in it will warm up and the bite will be on. Just because they caught them at lay lake at the classic with two days of warming doesn't mean that will happen around here. they have one key ingrediant there that we don't at Barren...."GRASS".
Exactly! I went to one of my favorite creeks on Monday and just stared at my favorite standing timber HIGH AND DRY! I then realized......I had no idea where to fish during winter pool! lol! I gave it my all none the less. Can't wait for some warm rains!Hopefully warm rain this week will turn them on, bass, crappie, and others. It took 13 1/2 lbs to win a 3 fish bass tourney Sunday. My partner went yesterday and caught around 15. I had 21 keeper crappie in two hours this evening. I thought the bite was pretty good. Are y'all onb the same Barren River Lake??
Heard that the winning sacks are being taken WAY up the river, to the point that one guy took a jon and an outboard jet to get up there. I fished all day around Skaggs, and I wasn't alone.....didn't see one boat hook up with anything. Guess I should have gone crappie fishing.
