A professional athlete cannot be overcompensated, because the money is there. It is not like you or I are paying them.
Since I keep up with sports very little, if any at all, I don't know if he cheated the game or gambled on it or broke any rules. I'm guessing he didn't do any of these things only because it hasn't been publicly broadcast that he did. Your guess is as good as mine.

In regards to money, I could be wrong, but I'm thinking various company's or sponser's are the one's who had something to do with him getting back into the game so quickly....companies/sponsors = dollars. He's certainly not getting back into the game so quickly because HE needs the money, but other's are making more money with him playing as opposed to him not playing...aren't they????

As for you and me not paying him, I'm not sold on that train of thought either....I have no idea who his sponsors have been or who his sponsors are now. BUt if we were to buy anything from these sponsors who back him, wouldn't some of that money somehow make it back to Woods?

    Yea, you're right....the money's there.

I don't have a problem with him coming back because what he does with his wood is his and his wifeys bidness.

I do take him as he is....arrogant, awesome player(on and off the course) and terrible at public apologies. Why didn't he call Jimmy Swaggart to get some pointers? Now thats an apology!!

I also think the money trail starts with the fans. Heck, look at Nascar sponsors left several teams because sales dropped and they couldn't justify the cost. That goes for the boating industry as well.

It doesn't bother me that Tiger gets sponsors and makes millions by pushing their product...thats awesome and the way it should be but I think that the pay can get off the charts stupid and I use baseball as my example. Baseball seems so one sided to me. Teams with huge budgets find a way to get the players and that stinks to me of buying championships. I'm no baseball guru but as the causual observer thats what I see.

Anyway, I bet the other players are loving that he is coming back to give the tour a boost which to me prolly equals more money because more fans are watching. I bet Tiger sponsored product sales go up!

    Re: Tiger is back!

Look at what Kobe did and it seems to me that it has been TOTALLY FORGOTTEN. Funny in sports that Championships seem to shut up all the talk about the other stuff these guys do. Tiger is more recognized than Kobe ever was or ever will be and it will take him to win more championships than it took Kobe for it to be FORGOTTEN and Tiger will win MORE championships than Kobe ever thinks about. It won't be today or tomorrow or even next year but after 10 or 12 more Majors and 5 more PGA Player of the Year awards plus all the money that all the OTHER Pro's are making solely because of HIM, Tiger will be forgiven and all will be well again. Never condoled what he did and never will. I would not blame Elin or whatever her name is if she left him last month, today or next year even if he never does a single thing wrong but face it, America is a fogiving society in the long run and no matter what you do, eventually all will be fogotten and forgiven. In the mean time, he is still the best golfer ever, best athlete in his sport versus other athletes in theirs, and name 1 other athlete that has done more for his sport overall than Tiger. My guess is Bird / Magic for the NBA is probably the closest when even the finals was tape delayed and all that before they came into the league. Ali / Jackie Robinson maybe splitting hairs on some of these but just to consider him with these is enough for me. Golf has grown expanantially in all phases because of 1 name and one name only, TIGER. People watch more when he plays, Pros make comments when they win that Tiger was in the field, Commentators make comments when Pros win that Tiger was not in the field, Tiger could change his name to GOLF and nobody would question it. Not on his jock strap and I have not swung a golf club since I shot 73 at Sportland in Winchester about 7 years ago. Yes I was fairly decent at one time but 25 abdominal surgeries will make you give your clubs away, which is what I did. I can't wait to try and teach my son to play and I will use Tigers golf swing and what all I know about him on the coarse to teach him the best that I can.

From a money standpoint, I say on ESPN that Tiger was making 4 Million a MONTH on his endorsements before all this. Grant it many left but just sit and watch how many take their place begging for his endorsements in a year. 2 years from now and he will be making 8 Million a MONTH and those that did not stand by him now will be WISHING they had because if they come crawling back, and they will, it will cost them PLENTY. Tiger is the only BILLIONAIRE athlete per ESPN, People will pay, Build it and they will come, People will Pay - seems there is a movie there somewhere and "Field of Dreams" could be named "Fairways of CASH"

    Re: Tiger is back!

How a guy makes money is NEVER any of my business as long as it's legal. I really don't usually dabble in such conversations. But I tell ya' these.

To down anyone for bettering themselves is an evil thing to do ....to anyone.

Not a single one of us in this world is perfect. EVERYBODY has a skeleton hiding in the closet somewhere where they wish they hadn't done something, but they did and it's there...and God knows it. Tigers just happens to be a wee bit more public than most.

No matter what, Tiger will be playing in the PGA and nobody can do anything to change that.....so why all the hate towards something you can't even do anything about?

I say we all go fishing and leave Tiger alone !
Beers on me. LOL.....Just Kidding. I wish I had that much money......HEY TIGER ! Round of Beers over here !

Heck...what was I think anyway? Clinton got away with it and kept his job...Kennedy got away with it and kept his job too. Heck, if it's good enough for those guys surely it's good enough for Woods...he should be able to keep his job too, by golly! Public spot light, role model citizen or not!!

Give me a high five!!! Can I get a boo-yeah!!

    Go Kenny Perry GO!!!

    Re: Tiger is back!

By putting God and Jesus up as your role model, that kind of attitude you just displayed looks pretty silly. To error is human. Just like you are doing now. But we SHOULD show Mercy to even those in public spotlights.....and to each other. By showing Mercy....THAT makes a good role model as you so wish to have. Again, by reading the Bible, you won't be so disappointed when your favorite public figure goes and messes up like Tiger or anyone of those others you mentioned. God and Jesus don't mess up.

    Re: Tiger is back!

You know, there was this story during the Olympics about this Canadian guy who runs their curling team and has for the past 10+ years winning numerous gold medals. He retired after winning the gold again at this Olympics. Know why you weren't aware of this story? $$$$$$$$

Tiger's relevant because he's the best golfer who ever lived. Tiger's personal ethics are only relevant because Tiger wants mllion dollar sponsors and sponsors want our dollars. How do you feel about salesmen that don't offer you anything but a false image?

I'll pay attention to golf again once Tiger re-joins the tour. it seems irrelevant to watch without him--kind of like watching strike NFL. That said, I'm no fan of Tiger. I used to be. Watching does not = fan.

I didn't like Michael Vick being allowed back into the NFL, but there he is, and I still watch the Eagles. Tiger didn't break any laws, so why shouldn't be playing golf again? I won't watch golf any more or less because of him being there, I'll just continue to root for someone else to knock him off, like I always have, especially if it's Phil or Veejay.

John Cook watched Tiger play a practise round at Augusta yesterday and said "NOBODY is hitting the ball like him and if he takes that game to the Masters NOBODY will finish close to him"

I like Tiger and always have...Seems to me too many people want to rumage their nose's in other's people's buisness too often.. he should have had one comment and only one comment to the world on his personal life..." No Comment " and moved on.......
