Planning on fishing Barkley next week and would appreciate any recent reports and suggestions. Thinking I'll start out on Tuesday fishing the south end of the lake, around the Canton area and then just go where (hopefully) the fish (bass) lead me. It's been a few years since I fished Barkley, and then it was generally on the north end of the lake.
Any and all suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated. Also, any recommendations on where to stay? Just need a clean room with electrical hook up for the boat.

My dad has been camped on jonathan creek on KY lake for about the past two weeks. He's been complaining that the water is pretty high there and all the crappie are still suspended in deeper water, but that's kentucky lake so i'm not sure how much help it will be. If they let some water out maybe it will be better by next weekend when I want to go.
Well.................?
Anybody got a report? OR did those 25mph PLUS wind gust blow you off the lakes and out of the bays...
Weather should be much impoved by Tuesday!
bump
Fished KY Lake in those 25mph winds yesterday and feel like I've wrestled a gorilla today. Yesterday was a day of catching 50+ largemouth bass with no keepers, had to bump 20+ fish that were all over 14-1/2", the bite is good but the size is bad. Some of the better fishing that gets reported on is fishing WAY South on KY not the North end. Hopefully this week of 70's will get 'em going. Water came up extremely fast don't, I tried fishing the secondary banks to no avail, I tried super shallow, but the best bite is a bank that the wind is blowing against it - the water temps are at least 2 degree's warmer but makes it a booger to hold the boat in place or on course.
Stay away from North Barkley. Worst weekend of fishing I have had in probably 10 years. Heard it took 9.88 lbs to win the usa bassin tourney out of Kuttawa with 40 boats.
I fished all day saturday and fought the wind. Kentucky beat me to death, so spent the bulk of the day on North Barkley. Just like offdtop, I had a ton of fish, but no keepers - it was fun nonetheless. The fish that barely missed measuring were extremely fat. It is just a matter of time (any day now) when the bigger fish will start turning up more - and this week looks like the perfect week with some warmer weather coming in. I caught fish on everything (jigs, shakey head, crank baits, lipless crankbaits). Ealier in the week, I caught my better fish on a shakey head, but was having a hard time fishing it as slow as I would have liked in the wind. The water was a lot more clear than I would have thought with all the recent rain - even barkley was fairly clear (for Barkely this time of year). I think you will have fun, and catch a ton - hopefully by the middle of the week, the bite for better fish will pick up a great deal.
I would also pay close attention to the lake levels. Right now they are at summer pool or close to it. Hopefully they will stay that way, but if they start pulling it back down I would use some caution - but of course on barkley, I am always extra cautious any time of year.
I just got back from KY and Barkley. I fished Sat, Sun and Monday. We caught 51, 25, and 37......Did manage 5 keepers on Saturday in North Barkley. Those would have gone nearly 12 lbs, but it was TOUGH. A couple Keepers in Sugar Bay on Sunday and another 37 or so Monday on North Barkley.
All fish were caught on tubes and jigs. Tubes Saturday, Jigs on Sunday and Tubes again on Barkley.
I hope this helps.

hey fellows whats goin on im new to the board today and i was at Barkley all weekend also. We were putting in out of Kuttaw and i would just have to say that we did pretty darn good. Friday we had about a 16lb limit and most were smallies with one just over 5 to boot. Saturday we did even better and had say 18 close to 19 lbs. All on jerkbaits fishin main lake point. Saturday we never caught a smallie. And let me tell ya, i was on a point in kuttawa bay when the tourney let out, and not 1 boat had their lights on!!! and if you know where the cut thru is there was 2 boats idling thru there like they are supposed to and me and my brother watched some idiot rip thru there past the to boats and straight thru the no wake and never let off of it!!!
