Try the parking lots. I drove over Barren Sat and it was muddy, in Skaggs and Peters and the River. Have not fished it since water is up. All reports say fish are scattered.

Good luck, I camped at the tailwaters this week end and the area where the water is the most clear is toward the dam, with that said if you do not know this lake be very careful the lake is still very high. The buildings at the new Port oliver lauch are in 5 to 6 feet of water. I did observe some folks working the riprap along the dam and the tree line and areas covering standing grass. They are dropping the water around 4 inches in 24 hours and it is drawing the mud line closer to the dam so these areas may have some color by this week end depending on how much rain we get. There is alot of debrie so slow down and watch the water and your sonar. good luck.
i fished a sat and sun tournament. here is what i can tell ya and hope it helps. sat fish would hit topwater bait when taking it down the edges of the flooded timber. so i figured they would also do the same on sunday but i was dead wrong. did not get one single topwater bite. switched to a spinnerbait and caught two small fish by bouncing the spinner in the tree limbs that are flooded. however, fish on that day was caught on plastics (sunday) down at the dam area. very unpredicatable fishing at this time if you ask me. i would have won the sat tournament if i hadnt have lost a fish in the afternoon before weigh in (which is still on my mind three days later) to sunday and basically struggling all day scratching my head wondering what im doing wrong. anyway, best of luck. hope he does well, im a big supporter of getting kids into fishing, after all they will be the ones that keep the sport going.
The water around the dam area of the lake is pretty clear. I fished last Saturday and caught fish around the golf course. I used a black/blue chatterbait. As previously mentioned the water is pretty dirty in that area. I would start out topwater no matter where you fish though.
