    rough river

I fished Rough Tuesday morning. I started about 630am and only fished til 10. Stayed mainly in the area between Laurel Branch and the ****. The water temp was in the low 80s. I caught 2 short bass. One on a plastic craw and the other on a white fluke that i threw in a jump hoping to catch some hybrids. There seemed to be a fair amount of fish in the jumps. The heat got so bad by 10 i was done. Im sure its gonna be night fishing for me from here on out.

Spoke with a buddy last night and he said everywhere he went "jumps" were going on. He never fished them assuming they were strippers, but good to know you got a bass outta there. I'm gonna have my swimbait tied on for my tournament there this Saturday...haven't went this year without a keep on a swimbait.

I've never fished them in Rough, but I have found them productive in any color water as long as it's not Ohio River Brown. The hooks have a molded on weight on the bottom to get them down, but I usually count off seconds until I think the bait is in the zone I want. I generally real it in pretty slow because, unlike a crankbait, they don't dive down deeper upon reeling. I generally use a 3.5 inch Bass Magic in a shad color with purple on top.
