Any Reds fans?

Decided that I would dig out a couple of my Red's t-shirts. They are 2 games up in the NL Central and looks like they are built for the long haul this time. Been a while since I was excited about the Reds.

I'm a,,,,or was Reds and Bengals fan. Both have been a long time comin...

After I found out about the MLB and NFL players unions were trying to get a tax payer bailout. I lost all interest in pro sports. I haven't watched a second of coverage since. Probably never will again......

Dang it Tipton, now you done went and jinxed them, I haven't posted about this on purpose, now the mid season melt down will surely happen.

I only found one article on it and I never found where it said they asked for a bailout, a Republican representative simply had them on a list along with other unions as being underfunded by the govt.s definition.

Americans for Limited Government (ALG) has sent a letter to 9 House Republicans urging that they withdraw their support from legislation providing a taxpayer bail-out of labor union run pension funds. One of these Republicans is Ginny Brown-Waite (FL-5). Among the union pension funds in critical danger are those run by the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA), the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) and more than a hundred other union-run funds.




Baseball is the new football

Some are getting worried about economic imbalance in the NFL just as baseball is moving past those concerns.



But the growing disparity is there, and it has teams in cities like San Diego and New Orleans pushing for new taxpayer bailouts, in addition to asking the league's richer owners for a few more million dollars a piece. And if they don't get what they want at home, they'll likely get it somewhere else.
So even if the NFL's economics don't end up playing out in the win/loss columns of a team, fans of poor teams could end up paying higher taxes or even see their team leave town for greener pastures.
And the fact that this baseball season begins with little talk about competitive balance at the same time it is getting more attention in the parity-minded NFL suggests that all the unlevel playing field talk is really about dollars and cents more than it's ever been about wins and losses.







Union: No 2011 NFL season


Ah, the 2010 Super Bowl. For once it has a terrific back story. the Saints rise from Katrina. Archie Manning’s son is torn between the team he grew up loving and the team he plays for. Haitian players everywhere.
What could possibly put a damper on all this fun?

Will the players strike and wipe out the 2011 season?
“On a scale of 1 to 10,” said DeMaurice Smith, the NFLPA Executive Director, “it’s a 14.”
Yes, because your average player only has four SUVs and a 50,000 square foot house these days. They might have to lose an SUV or two.
I am not begrudging them their possessions. Or their money. They work darned hard for it.
But the story of killing the goose that laid the golden egg comes to mind.

The first story I the one I found. The second story doesn't read to me like bailouts, it reads, build us new facilities or we will leave. Not sure what the third story has to do with the subject at hand.

I also heard on the radio today that next year their going to start taxing our fish/hunt licenses..... and their bringing back the DEATH TAX.


But anyways, I've been a Bengals and Reds fan forever....Glad to hear Reds finally doing good. They were slow out of the gate at the beginning of the season, but still played very well.
Like said, I haven't kept up with for last couple months or so.

As some of you here may or may not know, generally speaking I could give a rat's arse less about sports, especially professional sports....but for some reason I've really been getting into watching pro baseball this year. Yep...been a Reds fan for a long time, since the 70's Big Red Machine, Rose, Bench, Sparky, etc...This year the Reds have that Joey Votto Sluggin' machine in their aresnal, that dude was built to swing a bat!

I'm liking the Reds more and more, especially now that most of the team are players I watched develop right here in Louisville.
