    Browning Reels, Who Makes Them?

Titles says it all ... I have read in places that Abu Garcia makes them and read different in others. Anyone know?

I was looking at the Citori specifically (anyone used this reel?).

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure, not 100%, but pretty sure that Pflueger makes both the Bass Pro Shops reels and the Browning reels.

I was and still love Lew's SS reels, still have a few and think they are the greatest cranking reels ever made. After Browing bought out Lews Childres, they trashed those reels and made them nothing more than junk. Stay away from them I bet money you won't be happy. Buy a Revo.....

I really want a Winch but dont want to spend $200 ... I am looking at a used Citori (5.4:1 gear ratio) for $65 or Cabelas has the Phlueger Trion on sale for $79.99 (5.2:1 gear ratio)

Any opinions? By the way I am looking for a cranking reel.

Bass pro shops owns browning. I think Pfluger makes them because I have heard that you can take a pfluger parts and put them in johnny morris reels.

The new browning reels are nice. I have a citori and its a nice reel. The best reel I own for the money. The first baitcaster I ever got was a browning aggressor. It wasnt the smoothest and weighed a ton but it was reliable. I sold them to my cousin but they still work. The new browning reels are much improved the Midas is the best thats the reel Marty Stone uses but the Citori is solid. I would stay away from the cheapest model I didnt care for it much.

There are better reels out there I own several but when somebody asks about a reel think before you suggest something that costs twice as much and say its better. Some people have budgets.

LoomisLover, I bought a Citori (C10SHD) about 4 mos. ago. I use it with a 7' Compre. Smooth as silk ,as low a profile of my pro qualifiers and fits good and feels good in my hand. No complaint's so far. I would recommend for the price!

I just scanned through ebay and there are at least 5 revo winch's right now for under $100 with a day or so left????? My son has a trion and it's just okay as far as I'm concerned - I've had to work on it a few times due to "stuff" going wrong - but I can say he still is using it

I have three of the old Lews reels and aside from them not having the newer anti reverse they are working fine.
I did buy one with that feature when they first came out with it on the Browning and it's working fine.

Re: Browning Reels, Who Makes Them?

did you search revo winch or toro winch or abu garcia winch, or ambassadeur winch. There are alot of ways to search for it, and yeah ebay's a crap shoot but if you get a $200 reel for 90 to 120 bucks it could be worth it. I have bought plenty of reels off there and yeah sometimes I have to be a sniper and bid at the last minute but again I bet I have 3 or 4 curado 200's that I paid no more than $60 a peice. trying to help
