an idea how they could stop the cheating.

i read the post on how the guy was putting sinkers down the fish. here is an idea on how they could stop this crap. have every boat mounted with a sony 8mm waterproof camcorder. it would be able to tape for 12hrs, make them mount it in the back of the boat. only people able to review it would be tx officials (so fishing spots are not given away). the cameras are just a little over 100 bucks, im guessing 100 or so boats, so 10k. the prize money was like 40k and a truck or something, so it looks like it would be worth the investment since it could be used year after year. anyway, was just an idea. not only should they have ban him for life, but there should be a law/rule that he has to pay back any winnings he has EVER won. better yet the tx entry form these guys sign should have some sever penaltys. maybe make it a legal document that if they cheat their boat and equipment becomes property of the series for restitution for damages. kinda like the way nascar fines its drivers. what do you guys think?

That a lot of hours of video tape to be reviewed to make sure no one is cheating. Also, unless you have money like BASS and planned on filming to tournament, I highly doubt local or medium sized tournaments would buy video cameras. Sure the initial price might be 100, but with weather, wear and tear, those things wouldnt last very long throughout a season. Oh yea, and a guy can easily turn his back to a camera.

Quit slapping the people on the wrist and sending them on their way. This fella that cheated NEVER GOT ANY CRIMINAL CHARGES PLACED AGAINST HIM. Banned for life, Big Deal, put him in the slammer in the same cell with BUBBA THE LOVE MUFFIN for a couple of years, take his boat and all of his fishing equipment, ban him from ever getting a fishing liscense again in ANY state plus a nice fat fine to boot, and this may deter a few from doing it the next time. They knew on Day 3 of the tourney that he cheated but waited until he weighed in his fish on Day 4 before busting him. Let him weigh them in, present him with the prize money, have the cops standing by and then bust him for grand theft, conspiracy and any other law around. Then put all the other fishermen in the tourney in the same room with him for about 15 minutes before hauling his beat up hind end to the POKEY. I see it now, he walks into BUBBA'S cell, then close the door and BUBBA says "You my little puppy now"

If only criminal charges would matter! This type of criminal isn't worried about a criminal record (would be interesting to see if he already had one). Second point, do you really think someone cheating at fishing would get jail time? Drug dealers...unless you're talking "big" moiney get probation (over and over). My thought would be to procute them (even if it's only probation that they'll get) and spread their name over every media venue available. Of course we can't do that because we might get sued cause the criminals are the only ones with "rights". Can't risk "offending" anyone. Probably won't see the offenders name, location, etc. on this board (would be censored) ***My opinion of the "system" is based on watching it "not" work during a 35 year career in law enforcement.

Keep this in context, I'am not accusing nor implying but just tossing this out there. Another guy fishing out of the boat was asked to move not once but according to the article day's 1 and 2 the second to last day and the final day. The 2nd to last day ther were 3 fish with weight's the final day all 5 fish had weight's. Now if he culled both of those day's He would have had to wait till he had his final total to weight them unless he weighted every fish he caught, I would think this was pretty time consuming. The co-angler was entitled to share whatever purse Hart won but yet did not notice anything unusual going on?

Filming it would never fly. A cheater could simply turn it off.. cheat.. turn it on again or do it in the blindspot and since the reviewers would have to watch the films in FF they wouldn't be able to tell.

Couldn't they just wave a metal detector over them? Or get a small portable xray like the ones you pass luggage thru at the airport, they would be $$ but a lot cheaper than buying all those video camera.

Take away their fishing licenses for 5 years or so they can't fish at all and make a "caught cheating" website with their mugs all over it lol.. hell I'll make that!

If you are found guilty in a court of law beat him half to death with a bead Asian Carp that has been on the bank in 95F heat for about 3 days. The second time this happens take him out back and put one in his head.

boys cheating is not breaking the law.. there is no law on cheating, it is just frowned apon!! I'm not for cheating and would never cheat in any kind of bass tournament.. I believe that case would have been alot more trouble than what it was worth.. like someone else said there was another guy in the boat with him and in 3 days he never seen anything unuasual yea right!!! Banned and made public i believe is punishment enough simple b/c he never recieved the money!!

The only way to stop cheating is to stop fishing tournaments....as long as theres a will there will be a way....if it's not stuffing weights down a fish's throat then it would be something else.....you're not going to stop crooks from cheating you just hope you can catch them
