    Cool Best Barren Launch

I will be doing some fishing at Barren in a few weeks due to the situation at Cland and would like to get info on the best worry free boat ramps.
I will be coming from the Jamestown area and have a 19ft boat.
    All help is appreciated.

Baileys point is a nice ramp.. but a long walk up a lot of stairs from teh ramp to the lot and is a little more out in the open and takes a lot more wake than others making loading and unloading a little troublesome on busy weekends.

Penninsula is nice, long idle out of wake zone.

The Narrows is real nice, but again a long idle out if you dont go through the cut.

I love Beaver Creek myself, but I mainly fish Skaggs Creek and Beaver Creek and dont go up the main lake at all.

State ramp is real nice but is usually busy with tourneys every weekend. Best part is it is centrally located if you have an idea where you wanna fish... any further up the main lake and someone else is gonna have to give input as i have never been south of teh 31 bridge on the main lake...

In the course of the next few weeks as water temp and level both come down, i would put in at teh Narrows myself, and fish the main channel points along skaggs creek up to the beaver creek split.... as teh water cools even more, put in at Beaver creek and star the day off going up skaggs creek to the really shallow coves and throw buzzbaits...

BUt liek was mentioned in the other thread i started... topwater may take a little while loneger to come around..

If I were you I would get off the Parkway and head down 31E to State Park. It is centralized in the lake and most convinient for you. Plus you do not have to pay to use the ramp. There are several tourney out of there, but not much different than any other ramp.

State ramp is probably the easiest as far as backing down and getting off the trailer and out of the way. Parking lot is not far from ramp and there is a courtesy dock but it is not much and you might be best not using it. And it is a no fee ramp. And like others have said is in about the middle of the lake so you can cover lots of water.

The ramps on the south end, Walnut Creek, Austin, and Brown's Ford are decent ramps, but they are lesser used and the chances of things coming up missing from your rig are increased. Out of those three Brown's Ford is probably the best bet but it is the farthest up the lake and depending upon pool level you might not have as much water to play in as you would want.

    Thanks to all,
I will be at my place at Cland for a couple of weeks and plan to visit Barren a couple of times.
A long trip I will enjoy as I have had 43 radiation treatments for prostate cancer since July 15t hand haven't been able to get away. I am doing great and have been very active the whole time.
So I will be looking for those Hybrids at Barren and will check in for a little info when I get down .
    Thank You,

Im glad to hear you are doin ok with the cancer. My grandfather survived both Prostate and testicular Cancer.

If you are targeting Hybrids... I really suggest The Penninsula, Baileys Point, or State Dock. If you troll along the Hogs Back there by the Dam you will find some nice Hybrids...

beaver creek is a pretty good ramp, got a courtesy dockif you have a corp pass its free, didn't see any fee boxes today, but wasn't looking. Walnut creek is fair, but a little walk involved, its secluded but been there and talked to several guys who say its not risky parking.
