The internet was developed through the pentegon at the department of defense. Semi conductors were developed through direct financing and contract with NASA. GPS with NASA and the DEPT of Defense. All government sponsored research. Contrary to belief government plays a key role in employment/jobs. Building on utilities to power factories, developing transportation systems to move people and goods, providing skilled workers.

My sister in law lives in Germany. Raves about the free healthcare, free college and the wonderful welfare system. Her husband hasnt worked for seven years (he's in his 40's). She travels the world working for an American computer programming co. After spewing about how great everything is in Germany, she complains about the 50% income tax. I would like to pay for my kids college education for 4 or 5 years and not my entire working career. So much for free government programs. Dont expect you to agree, just ask that you consider where your opinions originated. Family? TV? Union Hall? Newspaper? or personal reflections.
Toad I hope you're right...I hope that's all it is is one big fat ugly chain letter lie. It didn't come to me in a chain letter fashion, it didn't suggest that I send it on to everyone else either. When I got it sent to me I called the person who sent it and talked to them about it...asked them if it was for real, etc...this person was pretty confident that the information was legit.
I guess we'll see...In the mean time I think I'm going to pick through each "wave" and write down each item and talk it over with my tax guy come February 2011 and see what he has to say about it.
Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation developed the semi conductor, NASA saw the value in it and invested more into it. Development of the GPS was financed through the pentagon, the GPS was actually the brainchild of Ivan Getting. You’re just taking data for the unemployment rate for one month, October. For the year, so far it is 8.2 %.The internet was developed through the pentegon at the department of defense. Semi conductors were developed through direct financing and contract with NASA. Yes, Nasa sponsered research in semiconductors. GPS research was sponsered by Dept of Def. My first GPS had intentional errors built into it so that if I were to try and map sensitive areas such as military bases the coordinates would be off. Military used it for years before it became comercially available.Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation developed the semi conductor, NASA saw the value in it and invested more into it. As far a Germany is concerned I am just saying that you do not have to export jobs, put 25% of your population into poverty or allow unrestricted environmental damage to have a healthy economy.
Yes I support Unions. Unions bilt the middle class. Prior to unions there was no overtime, wages were stagnent and child laobor laws were nonexistant. So even if you are not a union member, chances are the compesation and benifits of your job are a result of standards established by unions. Are they perfect? No. Few if anythings are. You do have to give unions the credit they deserve for establishing the middle class.
As far a R. Paul goes, he has made to many extreme statements for me to even consider him. BP oil spill "20 bil. cleanup and economic fund is a shake down of oil companies" civil rights "discrimination laws should not apply to private business". and other statements.
So if discrimination does not apply to private business we would be moving backwards. We will again see people being denied jobs and housing based on religion or race. Think about it. If R. Paul thinks a resturant owner has the right to not serve a black person, do you think he will hire a black person? What about an apartment? I think we will have to lay new railroad tracks in a lot of areas to clear the bounderies.
If holding BP responsible for environmental cleanup is a shakedown, how commited is he to oil price gouging or environmentally responsible drilling operations?
There are other avenues of approach that have been used in the past that could have been used to hold BP responsible. Creating the 20 billion dollar fund was a political ploy to try to show the people how tough he is. C'mon now, where was BP gonna go that we couldn't find them to collect. As for discrimination laws, Title 7 of the civil rights act has been abused. Every time somebody doesn't get what they want they scream predjudice and discrimination. Pretty soon they will include uneducated and lazy people as a protected class. I could start my own protected class by revealing what I do in the bedroom. Don't get me wrong, Title 7 and affirmative action were very valuable in integrating our society but it is outdated and now being abused, just like welfare. Me and you do not owe anything to anybody because of the color of their skin, religion, sexual preference, sex, age, or ethnic origin. Everybody just needs to play the cards they are dealt. Jeff Ruby refused to serve OJ Simpson in his restraunt because he felt he was a murderer, not because he was black. Small businesses should have the right to do what they serve who they want. If they discriminate, people will take their money elsewhere. Thank you for the very good spirited debate.Yes, Nasa sponsered research in semiconductors. GPS research was sponsered by Dept of Def. Thanks Tom. I agree that in this day and age if a business were to discriminate they would pay the ultimate price in lost sales and customers.
But I think a lot of programs need to be adjusted and fine tuned instead of just being thrown out. The Dept. of Education is a good example. Yes they mandate a lot of programs, teacher unions have too much power. But from what I have see from the local boards of education they do need oversite. I have seen school districts be redrawn so that new schools being built serve only the a select few. Certain high comercial properties being assigned to school districts miles from the districts borders.
Just think we don't have to throw the baby out with the bath water.
We can learn from others. The interstate highway system is modeled after the German autobaun. We can see if something is working and emulate it and if something is failing avoid it.
We hear this all the time.........do you have DOCUMENTED PROOF they don't pay taxes.I know my medical insurance will be used as income, and my meager pension is taxed by Ky, sure I'm pissed off. But what really frosts my buns is the dodges that huge corporations use to escape paying income tax. Micro soft, no taxes, CISCO, no taxes, google ma maybe 2.4% or less on a billion. And the senate stalled a bill that would have at least looked at these tax dodges.A lot is said about the welfare system, but not the corporate welfare system WHY?

Do You that they do ?
Yes, I DO.

Item 6
It is EASY to say these folks and companies don't pay taxes. You're listening to the HYPE........in reality, they pay a CRAPLOAD in tax.......much more than the competition.
Have FUN.
Later,
Geo
