25-29 Oct. fished out of Jamestwon, overed Lilly Creek, Greasy Creek, Beaver, Otter, and back up Indian clear to 76 falls.
Very few jumps to be seen, most action was right out of mouth of Beaver, following mainlake deep water channel to far side of the lake as the sun started down. Action started at 5:30 each night and ran thru to about 7 pm then shut down. Fair sized fish, fighting the white caps and chasing bait in fairly small groups, biggest jumps covered maybe 20 yads by 20 yards. Very tough to fish it with the whind, white caps, making it hard to see jumps that were in small groups and didn't last long. There were some VERY big Stripers on the surface. The big ones that just surface and swim along with their mouth opne versus going airborne or throwing geysers of water when they pop at the surface.

No jumps in Lillt, Greasy, or Mainlake arund James town at sunrise or suset any day that we saw. Mouth of Beaver at Main Lake over the channels was the ticket. Spooks, blue/silver Redfins, and big Striper Swiper Poppers worked.

Stripes are still in HUGE schools still mostly around the mouths of the larger creeks. Alot of fish still on main lake hanging off points and flats off the channel. Beaver is holding tons of fish right now. Jumps fishing is hit or miss right now due to the inconsistant weather patterns were having. When it's good, it's great. Some days they won't come up at all. Smaller schools are starting to scatter and head up the creeks also. Were still catching fish deep. Till they scatter out up the creeks it's kindly hit or miss, you either spend a little time trying to find 'em (and when you do it's AWSOME!), or you don't. Be patient and good luck! FISH ON!

Bob, Easy; thanks for the reports. Thinking of pulling some boards this week. Might even put the down riggers out. Haven't been out on the lake for about 6 weeks now.

Learned something real important about staying comfortable in bad storms at Cumberland this trip. I took a bottle of Makers Mark and left it int eh room when we went out Tuesday. Just when the wind went nuts at 10 am and we were out around Beaver busting 4 foot white caps, I asked myself "Would you rather be out here when the storm hits, or in the room at Jamestown, watching the storm from the balcony while siping burbon?".

NO-BRAINER! Hurricane Bob retired from the weather fight, and spent the afternoon relaxing and watch nature's display while warm and dry.

Curious......when I had apontoon that got me soaked in rough weather, I fished right thru it. Now that I have abot that keeps me dry, I drink burbon on the bacony when the weather gets bad.

I think.....I fear its true......either I have become......OMG NO NO.....mature?!?!?!!?! Or.....just maybe warm burbon is now more important to me that cold fish? Go figure. Wait.....OMG.....just figured it out......Wife goes with me now that the boat keeps her dry and warm.....and she hates being out in foul weather......SO ITS HER FAULT! I am still crazy.....I'm just now respectful of my wifes desires.....that's all. That's a load off my mind. Thanks for helping me figure that out.

Good. I am glad the wife is the cause of it and not the fact you have grown up, gotten maturer, or smarter. Ha Ha. At least that is a legitimate reason.

Seems like you know what the fish do this time of year. Been down there the last 3-4 weekends. Every time I see a lot of fish hanging about 60' in a 70-80 foot bottom and maybe deeper bottom too. They seem sort of evenly spaced out too-guessing 10 feet apart on average. Lots ( I mean lots) of fish all over main lake from Beaver to dam and up in the creeks some. Often they will all be at almost the exact same depth. They won't eat "my" shiners. Tried Gizzards for a while too. They are not "streaking" on the fish finder and making nice arches so I guess they are just sitting there?

    Any idea what they are?
    Cats?

I have been catching more cats than stripers lately at that depth. Seems like I answered my own question there but some stripers are being caught at that depth too. The fishing (catching) for me in the last month has dramatically declined. Must be doing something wrong (I hope). I'll try wearing my other hat.

Fished the mouth of Beaver and Otter today, 2 fish; one 30 inch and a 24 inch fish Did not see any jumps from the dam to the mouth of these creeks. Hope this helps. Oh-yea, I gave Hurricanbob a call for a little info, and what a guy. Thanks again Bob for all the help.
