    Re: newton lake

I honestly haven't fished it for a couple weeks. Been busy on the river with stripes and sauger. From tabs post on his forum (the guy that owns the hunting/fishing lodge on newton) it's been good. A lot of top water action and rattle traps. I'm sure the white bass are still stacked in the discharge like always this time of year. If you go take big and small traps in black/chrome blue/chrome and a red/orange/yellow bandit crank bait that dives to no more than 6'. Then poppers spooks and buzzbaits. If the winds blowing you want to be on the bank the winds hitting. Should be a good time. If you need a link I'll give you one to tabs page who owns the lodge. He posts very in depth reports.

I really need to get over to newton but I'm hooked on stripes and sauger right now. Maybe we'll get over there next week when Heath is off work. LJP? Have you, Donnie or Bob been there since your last TX? Heard Donnie won the yearly.

    Re: newton lake

Someone wanted this info on when the lake is closed this winter.

    (copied directly from newton lake)

The lake is closed only during the 7 days of shotgun deer season, which this year fall on November 19-21 and December 2-5.
The cold water side of the lake is also closed for goose and duck season from Thanksgiving day until February 1st of 2011.
