If santa has deep pockets any of the Loomis or Shimano rods should do the trick. I use a Loomis MBR783 and a 7'2" Shimano cumara.
There are plenty to choose from just depends on your budget.

What is your price range? I like Loomis and American Tackle.
If you don't want to break Santas bank.Try a Shimano Clarus. $69.99/plus tax with a lifetime warranty.
That's like askng which car should I buy without adding anything else. We will need details to help more. Lure weight and budget are the big ones for my help.
Your price range will really help everyone with suggestions. I fish jigs quite a bit, and I have found that using the most sensitive rod you can find will really help. I have three that I use throughout the year - all different brands, but like them all equally. Carrot Stix Gold, Shimano Cumara, and GLoomis GLX (all over 7'). If price was no concern, I would go with the GLX. I like the Cumara and Carrot Stix gold equally, however, Shimano's over the counter exchange warrantee gives them the edge.

the price range would probly be up to 300 and i would be tossing 3/8 to 1/2 weight but i would like to mabe through some plastics to
learn to watch your line and you can use a cane pole, you can see bites before you feel them, using any rod.borrow rods if you can to try them,i used a guys loomis rods after he told me how much greater they were than my falcons, said i'd throw my falcons away,i still got em.what you like may not be what i like,me i don't feel i need a 300 rod to feel fish bite.most of my falcon xg came off bassboatcentral use for less than 80 shipped to me.and as far as warranty,i have only broken one,and it had probably been shut in a locker and cracked.with the high end rods your basically just paying for another rod up front.jmo
You cant go wrong with a ALLSTAR rod,for the money its one of the best their is.
I love medium heavy 3 power Loomis rods. My IMX and GLX are 7ft rods that are used for 3/8 and 5/16 oz jigs. The tip action is perfect for pitching these jigs as well as soft plastics. I can use a 1/8 oz bullet weight and tube with these rods and then switch over to one of the jigs I like and never miss a beat with casting and pitching.
When I do toss 1/2 oz jigs I usually go to a heavy action 7ft or longer rod like a 4 power loomis. Everyone is different in what they like so maybe you can try a friends jig rod or go to a store that will put a reel on a few rods for you so you can get the feel before you buy?
You cannot go wrong with any of the high end rods.
x2 for the cumara, if not the cumara I would get (2) B7R Outlaw rods for the same $300 in fact I have 2 Outlaw rods for one for jigs and one for C-rigs both are extra heavy action and combine that with fluro it is a deadly combination.
But my first pick would be the Cumara
