    Ponds are getting good

Caught 6 out of 7 bites Friday afternoon, with two pushing three pounds. Sunday had 11 missed several more lost 4 and broke one off that was easy 4 to 5lb. That's what I get for using last Fall's line, lol. 6 solid keepers out of the 11 Sunday with a kicker fish that was 21 inches, would have weighed about 4 and half to 4 and three quarters. I was to honery to walk to the other side to my bag and weigh it. Two small fish that came on jerbait slow, everything else coming on a homemade 1/8 oz jig with pork. Thanks Andrew for the heads.

Slow drag and hop, very slow, but they were eating it, felt good to jack some jaws. First two trips this year and both were succesful, get out there boys they are stirring. The bites were so subtle it was very hard to detect, be on your toes and watch that line close, which was tough in that wind.

nice catch, i saw fish cruising at my neighborhood pond, which had a serious algal bloom that covered the bottom. I wanted to drag a Zoom tube but thought it would have been a waste of time

Alot of that stuff on the bottom in alot of these ponds is very mushy and doesn't hold together well. I was having to pop my jig real hard on a few casts to clear the junk off of it. When it would get a little heavy I would pop it with my rod and it would knock most of that stuff off, then you could work the jig back in with no problems.

Mark, I went Sunday morning and caught probably 30 bass and 4 huge crappie. Most of the bass came on a Bayou Boogie and a few on the crappie minnow. You are right the bass was tearing it up. Biggest bass was 2.5lb

Fished a pond yesterday wiht a fly rod and caught 7 or 8 largeheads. Not a lot of size, but fun anyway. All between 12-16 inches, but healthy looking critters.

    Re: Ponds are getting good

The farm pond I frequent FINALLY came alive today! Caught 13...most of them between 12" and 15", all very healthy, had one that thought he was bigger than he really was. Bout dang time!! Then the rain quit and the wind started picking up around 3:30 or 4:00, then things got slow, I lost a lure and said heck with it, enough for today.
