Had a friend who fished a tourney down there this past weekend. Said the lake was high and muddy, they had limited success on a baby brush hog in the trees, dragging it slowly through them. Told me a couple locals caught em up but didn't quite know how they did it. Hope this helps....

    Re: Green River???

Talked to a guy that wore em out Sunday....said his best 5 woulda been 22-23lbs....with that being said they're sucking the bottom out of it and patterns will be changing daily....with the lake dropping a foot and a half a day they could be on fire one day and shut off the next....for what it's worth he caught his fish in 5ft or less on a spinnerbait and a jig....that was with the water up in the trees and by this weekend it should only be up 2-4ft and what worked last weekend probably wont work this weekend....I know they're having a pretty good sized tournament Saturday....good luck to ya

Does anyone think that the spawn might be on at Green River?

With them pulling water that hard there is only one place I would go but all the locals know it also, so there will be 5-10 boats in thhat one small area.

With the water temp around 55 I highly doubt there are any bass spawning...they are getting close and are probably moving up, but I don't think it's quite warm enough just yet.....just my opinion though.

    Re: Green River???

I love to fish for spawning bass. But i release back quick and to same area so that they go back to the nest. Anyway i start looking for them when water temp hits 60-65 degrees. Not saying they dont but i have never seen spawning activity until water temps hit that range

    Re: Green River???

From what I've heard it appeared some had eggs and some didn't.....of course thats just from looking at the fish, not from cleaning them....but I highly doubt with the cool and fluctuating water that any fish have started spawning....This little cold snap will probably drop the temp a few degrees....I'd say you're looking at probably another 3 weeks or so until the first fish even think about spawning

No, the spawn isn't happening yet in lakes that size. A few fish may have started in smaller lakes that warmed up quickly, but the larger lakes never got warm enough.

This is talking about largemouth. Crappie, musky and smallies will spawn in 50 something degree water, but not largemouth.
