It's worse than the political jousting on here. The baby tit for tat posts are comical and at times downright stupid....just like the political stuff we all do.
Fans from all sports support their teams but for some reason around here it seems to define some folks lives and maybe their identity. Is it the history of the teams? The area? Growing up in one area and having the love of the team beat(not physically) into you? The need for something to root for? A recent post by Splitshot touched on some of that. I have met folks with entire rooms decked out in UK gear. I'm sorry I find that disturbing.
I'm not from around here but have lived here since 1995. Maybe thats why I don't understand or feel the UK/UL Bball history? I respect what teams have done in the past but in the end it's sports and thats all it is.
I'm pulling for UK and if UL was playing I'd be pulling for them.

Sniff** sniff** can't we all just get along??![]()
"Last word Lenny" and "Johnny Big Ball" - guaranteed I'm incorporating both of those into a sentence at work this week............
I live in KY, but hate the Ky Wildcats athletic teams with a passion, due to the hillbilly fans that cheer for them simply because their jerseys say "Kentucky." I lump UK fans and TN fans together and dismiss their mindless chatter, because 99% are simply in it for the UK stickers, blue t-shirts, and bragging rights that their state is better than another. It's not about states at all...it's about colleges, and UK as a college is not that great when I compared it to others during my selection.
I am a Louisville graduate, and will cheer for the school that I owe my career success to.
As I said, college athletics are about colleges not states.
I Exist here.
I work hard at not taking things to seriously. The best thing about this board is the exchange of facts, somebody always knows something that the other guy doesn't. And thats a real part of its value to me.
I like seeing the locals do okay, but I like PA teams doing well too. Then again, I have a good day on the lake when the boat beside me is tearing them up, cause I do enjoy seeing people having fun. To me, that's what sports is just all about.

We all enjoy rooting for our own schools and we all have blinders on when it comes to seeing the obnoxiousness, arrogance, and pure stupidity of fans of our favorite school...We all think our school is the best and see the downside of other teams and their fans...I'll rib the hell out of my friends who are UofL fans when they lose and expect the same from them when UK loses.....However, no matter what any UL fan says about UK and how nasty they get, the sun will rise tommorow....I have my family, friends, health, and Lord willing will live to watch another season of Big Blue Basketball next season....Some people, and yes I'm talking to several on here, take this bullsh wayyyy too serious
Scott everytime I read one of yours or TimT's post it reminds me of Jackie Gleason!!!!I live in KY, but hate the Ky Wildcats athletic teams with a passion, due to the hillbilly fans that cheer for them simply because their jerseys say "Kentucky." life is good, when your doing what you like. myself I never did care for any kind of ball games at all, and care less for nascar racing. but I have a brother that is a uk fan, and sometimes he makes me wonder if we really do have the same dad. and my best friend loves that nascar stuff, and while we are fishing sometimes, he plays the radio and I'm forced to listen to cars going around in circles while I'm trying to fish. but I love them both, and keep telling myself. they just don't know any better.![]()
Don't be knocking NASCAR! That's my sport! I love it more than basketball!
Go Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch!!!
